• Texts will not be issued for the following athletic training core courses: AH 101, AH 102, AH 200, AH281, AH 282, AH 300, AH 322, AH 323, AH 324, AH 325, AH 330, AH 331, AH 340, AH 341, AH 350,AH 381, AH382, AH 397, AH 400, AH 408, AH 410, AH 481, AH 482, AH 498, BY 231, BY 232, BY233, BY 234, PE 251, PE/EX 442, PE/EX 443, PE/EX 444, PE/EX 445, PE/EX 446, PE 465, PE/EX 470or courses approved as athletic training electives. You are expected to develop your own pr<strong>of</strong>essionallibrary and should be purchasing these texts to help you develop a personal reference library.• <strong>Athletic</strong> training students will not be issued books unless the book request form is completed correctly.• All books issued to athletic training students must be returned as soon as the last final exam is taken or onthe date specified by the head athletic trainer. Failure to do so will result in being placed on financial holdand you will not be issued books the next semester enrolled.• <strong>Athletic</strong> training students accepted into the pr<strong>of</strong>essional component <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Athletic</strong> <strong>Training</strong> Program canexpect to receive limited scholarship funding as detailed below.• No athletic training student will receive athletic training scholarship funding until accepted into thepr<strong>of</strong>essional component <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Athletic</strong> <strong>Training</strong> Program.• No student will receive athletic training scholarship funding the following semester enrolled if they receivea “D” or “F” in any course during the previous semester or at any time during while on probation orsuspension.• Final approval <strong>of</strong> athletic training scholarship funding is determined by the <strong>UWA</strong> Financial Aid Office andis considered in conjunction with other financial aid the student may be receiving. In some cases, studentsmay not be eligible for an athletic training scholarship due to the amount <strong>of</strong> financial aid received fromother sources such as loans, work-study, academic scholarships, etc.• In general and in consideration <strong>of</strong> the above factors athletic training students in the pr<strong>of</strong>essional phase <strong>of</strong> theprogram can expect to receive from approximately $250.00 initially to $500.00 during the last year.• The above amounts pertain to fall and spring semesters <strong>of</strong> full-time enrollment and do not include thesummer.<strong>Athletic</strong> <strong>Training</strong> Program Letter Jacket Policy & Championship Ring/Rewards PolicyStudents enrolled in the <strong>Athletic</strong> <strong>Training</strong> Program may letter and receive a letter jacket through theirparticipation as an athletic training student at <strong>UWA</strong>. The letter jacket is earned after lettering in the program for onefull academic year. To actually receive the letter jacket, students must be in good standing at the time <strong>of</strong> issueregardless <strong>of</strong> previously meeting the requirements for earning the jacket. A student who may have previously earnedthe letter jacket will not be provided the jackets if any <strong>of</strong> the following conditions are in effect at the time <strong>of</strong> issue:• Suspension from the <strong>Athletic</strong> <strong>Training</strong> Program.• Withdrawal from the <strong>Athletic</strong> <strong>Training</strong> Program.• Currently on probation in the <strong>Athletic</strong> <strong>Training</strong> Program. (Students who were on probation at the time <strong>of</strong>issue may receive the letter jacket once the probationary status has been lifted).Students enrolled in the <strong>Athletic</strong> <strong>Training</strong> Program assigned to a preceptor and team during a championshipseason may be eligible for a ring or other championship reward at the discretion <strong>of</strong> the <strong>UWA</strong> <strong>Athletic</strong> Department.To actually receive the letter jacket, students must be in good standing at the time <strong>of</strong> issue regardless <strong>of</strong> previouslymeeting the requirements for earning the ring/reward. A student who may have previously earned the ring/rewardwill not be provided the ring/reward if any <strong>of</strong> the following conditions are in effect at the time <strong>of</strong> issue:• Suspension from the <strong>Athletic</strong> <strong>Training</strong> Program.• Withdrawal from the <strong>Athletic</strong> <strong>Training</strong> Program.• Currently on probation in the <strong>Athletic</strong> <strong>Training</strong> Program. (Students who were on probation at the time <strong>of</strong>issue may receive the ring/reward once the probationary status has been lifted).Taking Athletes to PhysicianAt different times throughout the year, our athletes will require medical attention outside <strong>of</strong> Livingston. Whenthis occurs we will transport them in a University motor pool vehicle to the location <strong>of</strong> the physician or health carefacility. Usually, one or more <strong>of</strong> the athletic training students provide the transportation. There are severalrequirements that you must adhere to as follows:1. You must have a valid driver’s license.2. You must possess automobile insurance that covers your use <strong>of</strong> other vehicles.3. Use only the gas credit cards issued to you for gas or oil in the state vehicles.4. When using a state vehicle always obey all the laws pertaining to the use <strong>of</strong> public roads.28
