<strong>Grid</strong> <strong>Job</strong> <strong>Routing</strong> <strong>Algorithms</strong>In subsequent deliverables ([Phos-D5.2] and [Phos-D5.4]) <strong>Grid</strong> job executions models associated withscheduling and workflow will be developed and evaluated.The structure of this document can be described as follows:In section 1 the objectives of the routing algorithms as well as the scope of the document in the implementationand the simulation environment of the PHOSPHORUS framework are stated.In section 2 the terminology relevant to the <strong>Grid</strong> job routing algorithms is stated.In section 3 an introduction to general routing issues is presented focusing on the challenges of routing inoptical <strong>Grid</strong> networks.In section 4 the infrastructure and the user related requirements are identified and several issues that should betaken into consideration by the routing algorithms are isolated and analyzed.In section 5 the PHOSPHORUS network scenario on which the simulations and the simulation resultspresented in this deliverable are focused, is introduced. Also a short explanation of the PHOSPHORUSarchitecture is given with respect to routing issues.In section 6 the developed routing algorithms are presented and the simulation results are explained andanalyzed.In section 7 some closing notes of this deliverable are provided.Finally in Appendix A the Linear Programming (LP) formulation of the <strong>Routing</strong> and Wavelength Assignment(RWA) problem is analyzed in detail and in Appendix B the LP formulation is extended to deal with the case inwhich a demand requires more than one wavelength over the same path.Project:PHOSPHORUSDeliverable Number: D.5.3Date of Issue: 31/06/07EC Contract No.: 034115Document Code: <strong>Phosphorus</strong>-WP5-D5.39
