Act as a liaison between Senate and the students by seeking ideas from and reporting theevents of Senate meetings to an assigned student population.ARTICLE IISection 1<strong>The</strong> chief executive of the Student Body shall reside in a President who shall serve a term of oneacademic year.Section 21. Both the President and the Vice-President of the Student Body shall be popularly electedby the Student Body of the <strong>College</strong>.2. No persons shall be candidates for these offices who are not full time students of the<strong>College</strong> during the academic year prior to the year of the term sought and who have nothad a minimum of one-year experience as a <strong>Bridgewater</strong> <strong>College</strong> Student Senator.3. Before assuming the powers and duties of the office, the President-elect shall take thefollowing oath: ―I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office ofthe Student Body and will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend theConstitution of the Student Government and uphold the ideals of <strong>Bridgewater</strong> <strong>College</strong>.‖Section 3<strong>The</strong> President shall have powers1. To veto statutes passed by the Senate;2. To nominate and, with the consent of two-thirds of the Senate, appoint studentrepresentatives to all appropriate <strong>College</strong> committees, Senate committees, councils, andboards; members of the Honor Council whose appointments are not herein otherwiseprovided for, but Senate may vest the appointment of lesser officers, as it thinks proper,in the President alone, in the Honor Council, or in cabinet officers;3. To inform the Senate and the <strong>College</strong>‘s Council on Student Affairs and the President ofthe condition of the Student Body and recommend measures as he/she shall deemappropriate;4. To convene meetings of the Student Body; and5. To see to it that the actions of the Student Senate, and the Honor Council are faithfullyexecuted.Section 4Upon removal, resignation or inability of the President to serve, the Vice President shall assume hisor her office and the Senate shall elect a new Vice-President.ARTICLE IIISection 197
