Any item that appears to be a weapon and that is utilized for any purpose on <strong>College</strong>property, including, but not limited to, props used in plays and disabled weapons used in classpresentations, must be reported to and approved in writing by the Chief of Campus Police andSafety prior to being brought to campus.3. Members of a criminal justice agency who are authorized to carry a weapon and have officialbusiness on campus are exempt from the prohibition of Section 1.SanctionsWeapons discovered in violation of this policy will be seized by the Office of Campus Police, and theowner will forfeit ownership. Any student violating this policy will be subject to discipline up to andincluding expulsion, and any visitor will be subject to being barred from campus.EnforcementFor the safety of students, employees and visitors, all members of the <strong>College</strong> community areencouraged to report violations of this policy to the Office of Campus Police.FireworksPossession/use of fireworks or explosives of any kind is prohibited on <strong>College</strong> property. Any studentviolating this policy will be subject to discipline up to and including expulsion, and any visitor will besubject to being barred from campus.Water BattlesWater battles inside residence halls are forbidden because they create a safety hazard and can damage<strong>College</strong> property and cause extra cleanup for maintenance.Visitation and Guest PolicyRoom VisitationCo-ed (opposite sex) visitation hours within the residence halls for students are provided from 10:00a.m. to 12:00 midnight on Sunday through Thursday, and from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 a.m. Friday andSaturday (and on nights prior to days with no official classes). However, each wing/floor of eachresidence hall will have an opportunity to lessen the visitation hours in that building through thedevelopment of their Community Living Agreement.GuestsA student’s privilege to have a guest is, in all cases, superseded by the roommate’s right to theuninterrupted use of the room. Guests are defined as anyone not assigned to the room, includingstudents of <strong>Bridgewater</strong> <strong>College</strong>. All guests from off-campus are required to obtain a guest pass and,if driving, a parking permit from a Resident Director, regardless of the time of day the guest isvisiting the residence halls. Guests of the opposite sex are not permitted to stay overnight in astudent‘s residence room. Residents are responsible for the actions of their guests and should makethem aware of the expected conduct and <strong>College</strong> policies. Unescorted guests will be asked to leavethe campus. Guests are permitted to visit or stay in campus housing no more than three days during aone-month period.Visitation hours are supervised by Resident Directors and Resident Advisors. Visitors as well as theirhosts are expected to conduct themselves in a responsible manner and within the framework of<strong>College</strong> policies at all times. Failure to comply with the visitation and guest policies may result indisciplinary sanctions, ranging from a written warning with a fine to suspension, depending on thenature and frequency of the violation. Intermediate sanctions may include a fine, campus work hours36
