<strong>Systematic</strong> <strong>review</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>evidence</strong>-<strong>based</strong> <strong>guidance</strong> on perioperative antibiotic prophylaxisTECHNICAL REPORT3 Results3.1 Results of the systematic <strong>review</strong>3.1.1 Search strategyThe systematic search in EMBASE, OVID Medline <strong>and</strong> PubMed, CENTRAL, <strong>and</strong> the Cochrane Database of<strong>Systematic</strong> Reviews yielded 663 records. In addition, another 24 records were identified by h<strong>and</strong> search. Thenumber of removed duplicate records was 36, leaving 651 abstracts for further screening. Of these, 491 abstractswere excluded according to the exclusion criteria, leaving 160 studies for full text analysis. A further 50 studieswere excluded because pre-defined exclusion criteria were applied, which left 110 studies to be included <strong>and</strong>analysed further (Figure 2).Figure 2.
