3.2 Unshielded Spill Fire TestsTests 1 to 4 were unshielded spill fire tests to establish comparisons with pan fires of thesame size. The 8 l/min flow rate required for the 4.65 m 2 fire was increased to 22.5 l/minand produced a fire area over 13 m 2 for all the remaining tests.Test 5 was an unconfined and unshielded fire with a 22.5 l/min fuel flow rate. The time to completely extinguish the larger fire is 16 secondslonger than the smaller fire of test 3. The photo frames are at 30 second intervals fromfoam application on the top to the second last frame from the bottom. The last frameshows the exact extinguishment time.9
