Management Discussion and AnalysisLonger-terms, the Group’s product developmentfocus called for the development of fifteen brandnew models, eight new engines, six types of newmanual transmission, six types of new automatictransmission, three types of ECVT (Electronicallycontrolled Continuously Variable Transmission) andone hybrid project by 2010.ExportsThe Group’s operating associates exported over20,000 units of Geely and Maple sedans in <strong>2007</strong>, upfrom 10,000 units in 2006, accounted for over 11% ofthe associates’ <strong>com</strong>bined sales volume and over 10%of China’s total sedan/SKD exports during the year.“Free Cruiser” is the most popular models amongstthe export models and accounted for over 70%of the total export volume in <strong>2007</strong>. The operatingassociates’ products were sold to over 30 countriesand regions, most of which are located in EasternEurope, Middle East, Africa and Central America.During <strong>2007</strong>, the Group’s operating associates hadmade substantial investment to enhance the aftersales and maintenance services in the overseamarket. By the end of <strong>2007</strong>, both “Free Cruiser”and “Geely Kingkong” had successfully passed40 product certifications in Europe, thus allowingboth products to be able to sell in major EasternEurope markets. In November <strong>2007</strong>,the Group’s key export arm – GeelyInternational Corporation – signedan agreement with the Rolf Groupof Russia to import and sell Geelysedans in the Russian market. Theagreement covers the five-yearperiod from November <strong>2007</strong> toDecember 2012 with the overallvalue of the agreement making upto US$1.5 billion, paving the way forthe Group’s large scale entry intothe Russian sedan market. Management Discussion and AnalysisMarketing and PromotionsTo promote the “Geely” brands and enhancemarket recognition of the associates’ engine andcar design and manufacturing technologies, theGroup and its operating associates participated andsponsored a number of promotional events during<strong>2007</strong>, including:• The Group’s operating associates werethe key sponsors and sole engine andformula car suppliers of the <strong>2007</strong> seasonof Asian Geely Formula International OpenCompetition (“AGF”). Four AGF races wereheld in <strong>2007</strong> in Beijing, Chengdu, Zhuhaiand Shanghai with a total of 9 sponsoredteams <strong>com</strong>prising 18 cars participating in theraces. The Group will continue to be the keysponsors and sole engine and formula carsupplier for the new 2008 season of the AGFrace.
