March 14-20, 2012 E/N/C/V Let’s Go! 17Gallery Walk welcomes the Charlotte County Homeless CoalitionGALLERY WALKGallery Walk once again arrives in downtown<strong>Punta</strong> <strong>Gorda</strong> on Thursday with thefun starting at 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.Many of the merchants of the downtown area willbe staying open to show of their wares and to entertainyou with music, arts and love demonstrations.Following the new theme of the Gallery Walk,this month we welcome the Charlotte CountyHomeless Coalition, who will be on site in variouslocations around town, to tell you about their mostworthy cause and to help guide you to visit all themerchants who will be open that night.Here’s a sample of a few of the things that willbe happening that night to entice you to join andenjoy what is often described as one of the city’smost fun nights of the month.Florida Gulf Coast, located on the ground floorof the Herald Court Centre, parking garage, willbe hosting a wine and cheese reception for threeartists: Charles Emma, author of “Lawyers, LiesSome of the best singers in the area will gatherat the Golden Apple Dinner Theatre Saturday.They will perform songs associated withthe legendary Barbra Streisand in a special showto raise money for Trinity Charities HIV programs.The singers include Sharon Scott who hasperformed throughout the are, notably atFlorida Studio Theatre and The Golden Apple,Kim Gardner Kollar of Venice Theatre, ForrestRichards of Golden Apple and many othervenues; Shawn Marie Robinson, Broadway(“Merrily We Roll Along”) performer Ann Morrisonand others.& Lipstick,” and Bonnie Rogers, award-winningartist will be available for a meet and greet. Herworks in oil, acrylic and watercolor are on exhibitthrough April and well-known local wood sculptor,Daniel Vall will be exhibiting his graceful waterbirds, tables and other pieces of art from whathe calls, “the profound beauty of wood for whichMother Nature no longer has as use.”Creative Circle, also located in the HeraldCourt Centre, will be showing and selling thewhimsical porcelain work of Alex Wiggins. Also,owner Lise Lindsay will be demonstrating her“throwing” skills on the pottery wheel.Sunart Gallery and Framing, in the heart ofdowntown on Taylor Street, will be displaying thethree dimensional collage work of artist and galleryowner, P. Presseller. The gallery will also hostthe Port Charlotte High School Art Honor SocietyStudents and their outstanding artwork.Over at Creations Gallery on Taylor Street,owner Nina Sedule-Ross is pleased to feature the“simple, striking images” of oil and pastel artistDivas to perform songs associated with StreisandBY KIM COOLFEATURES EDITORMichael Sebastian is the show’s musical director.He also is the musical director of “Disenchanted”which is enjoying its final pre-Broadway run atthe Apple where it played last October.Hosted by Roberta MacDonald and Ben Turoff,the show is presented by Suncoast AIDS TheatreProject.Chef Caldwell’s Lite Bite menu will be available.Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at7:30 p.m. Tickets for the show are $15 in advanceand $20 at the door.Call the theater’s box office at 941-366-5454 orvisit www.thegoldenapple.com.The theater is located at 25 N. Rob Roehrig will have a displaythat will show his process of how a wooden bowl isturned from log form to finished bowl. And meet ourguest artist, Jim Schwabel and view his latest photosimages of classic cars in wild colors. As alwaysthere will be refreshments to sip while enjoying allthe art and meeting the artists.Over at Swiss Chocolate+, Maria presents the443150jazzy Leslie Dacosta at the corner of Sullivan andW. Virginia Streets. Dance the night away andenjoy the breeze under the arcades. The SwissChocolate+ store is ready and decorated for St.Patrick Day and Easter and invites you to taste achocolate sample. Just across the street at CentennialBank, local artists will be exhibiting and sellingtheir creations. Art this month includes paintings,glass-work, jewelry, beading, pottery, photographyand more.
