AIRPORT ENVIRONMENT STRATEGYStrict environmentalmanagement and monitoring areat the heart of BAC’s approachto protecting the conservationvalues of the airport.Refer to Chapter 13 of theMaster Plan.In accordance with the Airports Act, theAES now forms part of the 2014 MasterPlan contains individual action plans thatidentify how environmental issues are tobe managed over the next five years.The AES covers all environmentalmatters arising from the operation andexpansion of the airport in accordancewith the Airport Legislation. The AESdoes not include noise and air pollutionfrom aircraft movements as these areregulated under separate legislation.EnvironmentalManagement SystemAirport regulations require BAC toinclude a comprehensive EnvironmentalManagement System (EMS) for theairport that maintains consistency withAustralian and international systems.Furthermore, it is BAC’s goal tomaintain and apply a world-class EMSacross all facets of Brisbane Airport’soperations, which achieves long-termimprovements to its environmentalsustainability and continues to improveand evolve through stakeholder input.Through the use of an EMS, BACwill identify and assess the levelof environmental risk for each ofits activities, manage risks, auditperformance, review the approach andstrive for continuous improvement.Actions 2014-2019Within the Master Plan AES,BAC outlines its goals, objectives,achievements and action plans for thefollowing areas: Sustainability, Energy,Air Quality Emissions, Waste andResources, Water, Soil, Biodiversity,Noise, Heritage, Development, andTenant and Contractor Management.Through the AES, BAC has committedto a series of actions over the five-yearperiod covered by the Master Plan.These include, but are not limited to,the following:30Brisbane Airport Corporation
