It representsthe quantity of medication that was or is to be administered at each dosing.3.6.4.7 The element should be present for continuous dosing regiments (e.g., IV pump).It is of type PQ and represents the rate at which the medication is administered.3.6.4.8 The element may be present. If present it shall include a code fromthe <strong>HL7</strong> MaterialForm vocabulary. This element describes the form of the medication (e.g.tablet, sustained release capsule, gelcap, et cetera).3.6.4.9 The element records the type of medication that was or is to be administered. Atthe very leaf it has a element that may be used to code the medication against a controlledvocabulary such as RxNorm or NDC.
