5 6 Drive system & chassis Safety Comfort AMGAssistance systemsJust like in real life: assistance systems are tasked with making our life easier. In this respect, features such as the 360° camera, the Traffic Sign Assist and the ActiveParking Assist enhance the feeling of comfort and safety in the E-Class.Parking package with 360° camera 1 (optional). TheParking package includes the 360° camera, as well asActive Parking Assist including PARKTRONIC 1 . The Parkingpackage with the 360° camera feature comprises a closerangecamera system with four networked cameras anda control unit which can display a homogenous all-roundview. One camera is mounted at the front, there is onein each exterior mirror and one in the centre at the rear ofthe car. Based on the information, the system calculatesvarious views around the vehicle as well as a true-colourimage of the vehicle and its surroundings from a bird’s-eyeperspective. The different perspectives can be selectedusing the COMAND Controller. The 360° camera is activatedwhen reverse gear is engaged or by selecting it inthe COMAND system. The images appear on the multimediasystem display and can be changed automatically dependingon the direction of travel. Dynamic guide lines make iteasier to get one’s bearings and help with manoeuvringback onto a trailer’s drawbar if a trailer coupling is fitted,for example.The 360° camera system uses four cameras to provide views all around the vehicle1Integral component of Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive.
