A CHANCE TO REMEMBER - 13 DECEMBER 2010<strong>Willen</strong> <strong>Hospice</strong> celebrated and remembered loved ones andfriends at an annual ‘Lights of Love’ service. Despite thefreezing temperatures, over 1000 people attended the eventand their dedications raised over £20,000 to help support theimportant work of the <strong>Hospice</strong>.Elaine Johnston, Events & Community Fundraiser from <strong>Willen</strong><strong>Hospice</strong> said, “This is a really important event in the<strong>Hospice</strong> calendar and we are pleased that so many peoplecame to remember loved ones and friends at this specialtime of year.”December 2010CHRISTMAS COMES E<strong>AR</strong>LY<strong>Willen</strong> <strong>Hospice</strong>’s in-patient unit received an early Christmaspresent.A special reclining chair was donated by Aspley Guise furniturestore, Larkswood. Made by Joynson and Holland, the chairfeatures a simple rise and recline system. It can be reclined toa flat bed position for sleeping and tips forward to make sittingdown and getting up much easier for patients.Sam Spivack, Manager of Larkswood said:“We are delighted to be donating this chair to a veryworthwhile cause.” The new chair is a welcome addition tothe unit and will provide additional comfort for our patients.NEW <strong>AR</strong>TStudents from the IPEC Centre in Bletchley presented a piece ofart to <strong>Willen</strong> <strong>Hospice</strong> that will be hung in the Garden Room. Thestudents from IPEC - a centre for young adults - had previouslyspent time with patients to try to understand their personalexperiences of living with their illnesses. Subsequently, thestudents created a collage to portray this in an art form.
