3Kerala had shown keen interest in the study of Sanskrit enthusiastically, and fromthe eighth century AD, almost all branches of literature were attracted the minds ofSanskrit scholars of Kerala.Mention may be made of outstanding works and commentaries onastronomy, astrology, tantra, stotra, k¡vya, drama, and the like, which are thevaluable contribution of Kerala to Sanskrit studies. P£r¸asarasvati, Aru¸agirin¡tha,Govindabhaatiri of Talakku½att£r, Abhir¡ma and R¡ghav¡nanda are famousancient commentators on excellent Sanskrit works. This chapter deals with theSanskrit commentarial literature of Kerala to some extent.Origin and development of hermeneuticsHermeneutics or vy¡khy¡na¿¡stra is very old one in India. Many scholarsargue that the vy¡khy¡na¿¡stra was originated in India and some others say it is inabroad. K.
