The game was played at Tully Stadium in <strong>Spring</strong> Branch<strong>ISD</strong> and represented the district opener for both teams. <strong>Waller</strong> currently is 2-2 on the season and 1-0 in district play.Defensively, the <strong>Bulldogs</strong> got off to a great start with Jonathon White intercepting a Tiger pass andreturning it 40 yards for a touchdown. The interior line of Jacobie White, Jordan Hamilton, NickStubblefield, Marc Moore, James Lenart, Josh Cunningham, Travis Hackler and Trent Rape playedwell against a surprisingly polished option attack from the <strong>Tigers</strong>. The <strong>Bulldogs</strong> had two defensivetouchdowns on the evening as Jordan Hamilton also scooped up a fumble and raced in from 25yards out. Chris Carroll, Jordan Gooden, Colten Robinson, Chris Booker, Brandon Sandoval, andGarrett Coleman backed the defensive line from their linebacker positions and stopped opponentsconsistently all night. As a team, the <strong>Bulldogs</strong> limited the <strong>Tigers</strong> to 5 first downs. The <strong>Tigers</strong>managed to rack up <strong>34</strong>7 yards of total offense, but 199 of those yards came through the air as the<strong>Tigers</strong> were trying to play catch up. Dominique Walker thwarted a late touchdown attempt with anacrobatic interception in the end zone. Matthew Pierce, Mikhail Drake, Hunter Schmidt DesmondJordan and Jyrin Broussard also made key plays breaking up passes and one on one tackles in thesecondary.Offensively, the <strong>Bulldogs</strong> racked up 11 first downs with 361 total yards. Deandre Bell had 84rushing yards on 11 attempts. David McDade had 58 yards on 8 attempts. Rod Hill broke the gameopen with a 95 yard touchdown run and finished with 4 carries for 117 yards. Dominique Walker, Kyle Schmidt, Garrett Coleman, Chris Booker, DesminBray, Brandon Sandoval and Jordan Hamilton also contributed with rushes for key yardage. D.J.Johnson had a 51 yard touchdown reception from Deandre Bell with Kyle Schmidt, DesmondJordan, and Rod Hill catching passes as well. The offensive line had a good night against a soliddefensive, constantly shifting front from the <strong>Tigers</strong>. Andrew Byer, Glen Hill, Casey Boyd, MattLeviner, Matt Stone, Derek Eckerman, Leo Mora, Austin Martin, Matthew Ethredge, and JamesLenart all got a piece of the action and made large running lanes.On special teams play, James Lenart, Clay Schluens, and Jose Perez were as consistent as ever allnight long. Perez nailed every extra point and has really shown improvement over the past fewweeks. He also executed a perfect, left-footed onside kick which the <strong>Bulldogs</strong> recovered. DesmondJordan had a huge kickoff return to shift the momentum back to the <strong>Bulldogs</strong> in the middle of the 4 thquarter to help finish the game. The <strong>Bulldogs</strong> will play #3 state-ranked Brenham at home onOctober 1 in <strong>Waller</strong>. The October 1 st game is Breast Cancer Awareness Night, TeacherAppreciation Night, and <strong>Waller</strong> <strong>ISD</strong> TAKS Recognition Night.
