Do Thermal Arc Inverters work on Generators?One of the main fears when selling any inverter is its reliability whenused with a Generator. Some inverters are very susceptible to inputvoltage fluctuations.The Thermal Arc range of inverters has in built protection to guardagainst any such fluctuations and minimise damage due to under orover voltage conditions.What Size of Generator do I Need?The KVA rating of the machine is the main factor to consider. However,it is important to remember that the input voltage can be affected byload changes during Arc striking particularly when using rods whichrequire high open circuit voltage in order to initiate an Arc.With the above in mind, listed below is the Input current ratings andthe equivalent KVA rating for Thermal Arc range of machines and agenerator that is recommended will run the Thermal Arc range ofInverters up to the maximum duty cycle.You also have to take in to account if you wish to run these machineson Extension leads that you use the correct rated cables and mainsplugs.www.rapidwelding.comA rule of thumb is that the kVA rating of a generator should be 1/3rdhigher than the rated load its to supply.
