Memory FunctionThe Memory function enables and disables the current channelto be memorised into the scanning list. When the channel ismemorised with the ‘M’ icon on the LCD, scanning will include thechannel. When the channel is deleted from the scanning list, thechannel will be skipped upon scanning. All channels are saved toMemory during manufacture. To add or remove a channel from theMemory, press and hold the SCAN/Mem key.Mode/Key-Lock KeyMode FunctionThe MODE key is used to set the various feature settings of theTX670. The following chart shows the order of these selections:Standby Mode:1. CTCSS Code Selection2. Transmitter Power3. VOX Settings4. Dual Watch Channel5. Squelch Settings6. Roger Beep Tone Selection7. Button Beep Tone Selection8. Call Alarm SelectionKey-Lock FunctionThe Key-Lock function disables the keys to prevent accidental keypresses from changing the preferred settings of the <strong>radio</strong>. Whenthe keys are locked, the Icon is displayed and all key presses areignored except for the PTT and Key-Lock functions.To activate the Key-Lock, press and hold the Mode button forabout 2 seconds. The icon will appear on the display.To cancel the Key-Lock, press and hold the Mode button again.The icon will disappear from the display.Selecting ChannelsIn the ‘Standby’ mode, press the or key to step up/downone channel. Press and hold the or keys to quickly scrollup/down through the channels.In ‘Mode edit’ mode, press the or key to step upwards ordownwards through the selected mode settings.1. CTCSS Code SelectionThe Continuous Tone Coded Squelch System (CTCSS) is a Squelchquieting system that allows groups of users to share the samechannel without disturbing each other. It uses 1 of 38 lowfrequency tones to open and close the Squelch on the <strong>radio</strong>. TheCTCSS codes do not prevent others from hearing your transmission.They simply provide you with a quieter channel by preventing youfrom hearing transmissions that are not using the same code as youand are therefore not directed at you.Note: To communicate with other <strong>UHF</strong> <strong>radio</strong>s using CTCSS, all<strong>radio</strong>s you wish to communicate with must be switched to thesame channel and have the same CTCSS code selected. If you wishto receive signals from <strong>UHF</strong> <strong>radio</strong>s that are not using CTCSS youwill need to either disable CTCSS on that channel or set the CTCSScode to ‘oF‘ as described in the following ‘note’.To Select a CTCSS CodeFrom the ‘Standby’ mode:1. Select the required channel using the or keys.2. Press the MODE key ONCE (1) to select the CTCSS setting mode.‘CTC’ will flash on the display.3. Press the or keys to select the required CTCSS code. (A listof available codes is shown in the chart on page 12).Note: To turn CTCSS off on this channel, set the CTCSS code to ‘oF‘4.
