The trigger for the protest was anattack on journalist Zoran Bozinovski while he was working. One<strong>of</strong> his attackers, allegedly a member <strong>of</strong> a special police unit, wastaken into custody, but the Association said that 40 colleagues hadbeen victims <strong>of</strong> violence over the previous few years, and most <strong>of</strong>the attackers had never been arrested. The journalists demandedthat the then Minister <strong>of</strong> the Interior, Ljube Boshkovski, meet thempublicly to report his investigations. However, the Minister waitedfor the demonstration to be over before making a statement.The AJM said: “The goal <strong>of</strong> those who beat the journalists is tocause silence.
