Free Every Month Scrumpy ‘n’ Western Issue 3 Vol. 5‘Jerichova’ were formed in August 2006by four mates who wanted to play somethingdifferent .They all came from variedmusical backgrounds, Jeff Hague andHoward Williams from New Orleans Jazz,Vaughan Channon from Rock ‘n’ Roll andCountry, and Rick Coyne from the folkscene. They decided that skiffle needed arevival and began meeting in the skittlealley of The Bell, Banwell once a week,playing the music made popular back inthe mid 50’s by people such as LonnieDonegan, Chas McDevitt and The Vipers.Their noise filter through up into the puband they were offered a gig. They are nowsetting feet tapping regularly, at variousvenues, to a mixture of Skiffle,Blues,Plantation Spirituals, Chain Gangwork songs, with a few songs thrown in.They are, first and foremost, a FUN band.They enjoy what they do and this comesacross in their music, as can be heard ontheir recently released CD ‘Going Home’,which is available at their gigs. With a greatlove and respect for the art of guitar playingand songwriting, Ryan decided to createsome tunes he could call his own. Hisfrequent appearances in Weston’s thrivinglocal music scene and more recent venturesinto Bristol, Bath and predominantlySouth West based acoustic venues ensuredhis ability could gain momentum andhis songs could start to take shape.
