Head Coach Matt Campbellconsistently among the most productivein the nation in Campbell’s threeseasons as <strong>of</strong>fensive coordinator.In 2009, Campbell helped guideUT to the No. 16-ranked <strong>of</strong>fense in thecountry (437.9 yards per game), despitelosing senior quarterback AaronOpelt to injury midway through theseason. The Rockets also ranked No.1 in fourth-down conversions (80.0percent) and No. 18 in passing yards(278.1). Three Rockets earned All-MAChonors on <strong>of</strong>fense, while Eric Page ledthe nation in receptions by a freshmanand was named first-team FreshmanAll-America by Phil Steele Magazineand the College <strong>Football</strong> News.<strong>Toledo</strong>’s <strong>of</strong>fensive resurgence continuedin 2010, a season that saw theRockets go 8-5 and make their firstbowl appearance in five years. TheRockets ranked third in the Mid-AmericanConference in both scoring and total <strong>of</strong>fense. UTalso featured two <strong>of</strong> the most exciting players in theleague, Page and running back Adonis Thomas.Page was third in the MAC in receptions with 99,and earned numerous All-America honors as a kick<strong>of</strong>freturner. Thomas rushed for 1,098 yards and led theconference with 6.3 yards per carry. Campbell alsomentored a very effective <strong>of</strong>fensive line, including juniortackle Mike VanDerMeulen, a third-team All-MACselection.In 2011, <strong>Toledo</strong> (9-4, 7-1 MAC) ranked eighth nationallyand first in the MAC in scoring <strong>of</strong>fense (42.2),and 10th in the country and first in the MAC in total<strong>of</strong>fense (481.3). The Rockets also ranked eighth in thenation and first in the league in passing efficiency(160.4) and 18th in the country and fourth in the MACin rushing <strong>of</strong>fense (213.6). The Rockets’ <strong>of</strong>fensive linewas tied for sixth in the country and first in the MAC infewest sacks allowed (10). A big key for the team’s successwas its ability to protect the football. UT rankedCampbell and the Rockets visited patients at <strong>Toledo</strong> Children’sHospital. Campbell requires all his players to participate incommunity service in the <strong>of</strong>f-season.third in the nation in turnover margin (+1.2) and tiedfor sixth in fewest turnovers (14).The Rockets’ <strong>of</strong>fense gained the national spotlightwhen it scored more than 60 points in consecutivegames for the first time in school history: 60 points vs.Northern Illinois on Nov. 1 and 66 vs. Western Michiganon Nov. 8. Page continued his rampage throughthe record books, finishing second in the countrywith 125 receptions and was one <strong>of</strong> four finalists forthe Paul Hornung Award as the nation’s most versatileplayer.Page was one <strong>of</strong> four Rockets to earn All-MAC on<strong>of</strong>fense. VanDerMeulen and Thomas repeated as allleagueperformers, and they were joined by sophomorecenter Zac Kerin.Campbell earned national attention for his recruiting,as well. Rivals.com named him a “top recruiter”in 2011. Campbell was one <strong>of</strong> nine coaches fromnon-automatic qualifying schools in the BCS to makethe list, and the only one from the Mid-AmericanConference. <strong>Toledo</strong>’s 2010, 2011 and 2012 recruiting
