UlaanbaatarHotel (Deluxe room) – 1 night (D)Day 2: To Lake HuvsgulThis morning, visit the Natural History Museum,which exhibits some of the world’s mostsignificant dinosaur finds that were excavated46 I Asia & Pacific 2011from the Gobi Desert. Next, visit Bogd KhanMuseum, the winter palace of the last Mongolianking where you can marvel at fine examples ofMongolian Buddhist art.In the afternoon, fly to Murun, the provincialcapital of Huvsgul Province. One of the highlightsof the trip is Lake Huvsgul, surrounded by lushmeadows, alpine forest and snow-capped peaks.The area is also home to some of Mongolia’sethnic minorities as well as a refuge for a widevariety of wildlife. After landing in Murun, driveto Khatgal, a small town on the edge of the lake,then north along the lake’s edge to your gercamp. Stay 3 nights in a rustic and simple gercamp. (B, L, D)Day 3 & 4: Lake HuvsgulSpend two days hiking around the forests andmeadows near the lake. About 5400 ft above sealevel and surrounded by mountains rising above10,000 ft, the waters of Huvsgul are deep andspectacularly clear and pure. Hike through thickpine forests carpeted with flowers and explorethe setting of Mongolia’s ‘Blue Pearl’. (B, L, D)Day 5: To UlaanbaatarToday you will fly back to Ulaanbaatar.
