Nearly 80% of all travel was reported on thetravel day (adjusted data). Tables 2.5 and 2.6compare trip purposes and trip lengths bymode for travel day and travel period sections.As might be expected, most airplane travel wasreported in the travel period section. Over halfof the PMT reported in the travel periodsection was for a social/recreational trippurpose. Of the 499,239 million miles traveledfor social/recreational purposes, about 75%was via POV and 18% was via airplane.
