All boys should arrive to the theater with their hair neatly combed <strong>and</strong>, if necessary, secured with hairspray or gel.Please make sure that bangs do not fall below the eyebrows so the face has an “open” appearance on stage.<strong>Make</strong>-<strong>Up</strong>:Girls: <strong>Make</strong>-up should be done before arriving for technique class. The purpose of make-up is to prevent yourchild’s facial features from “washing out” under the strong lighting used on stage. <strong>Make</strong>-up should accent theirnatural features rather than hide them, so please avoid bright colors, especially for blush, eye shadow <strong>and</strong>lipstick. Students only need foundation, powder, pink or peach blush, light brown eyeliner, mascara, <strong>and</strong> lightlipstick (pink or coral). Neutral eye shadow may be worn, but is not required.Boys: No make-up is required.Levels 4 <strong>and</strong> 4X<strong>Costume</strong>s: Students will wear contemporary dance dress code attire for the performance as follows:Young women must wear a black camisole-style leotard with black footless tights (or tights with feet rolled upover the ankles). Black tights should be worn OVER the leotard. No underwear or undergarments may show.Students who desire extra privacy may wear a nude leotard <strong>and</strong> must pin the straps underneath the leotard so they donot show.Young men must wear a white fitted t-shirt (short-sleeve style) with black footless tights (or tights with feetrolled up over the ankles). If tights are thin, two pairs should be worn. All boys must wear a dance belt underneaththeir tights. Please contact Timothy Rinko-Gay, Boys Program Coordinator, if you have questions about the dresscode for male dancers.<strong>Hair</strong>:Young women must pull their hair into a high ponytail secured at the crown of their head. Please use an elastic b<strong>and</strong>in a neutral color (black or brown) or one that matches your hair color. <strong>Hair</strong> must be neat; use gel or hairspray, <strong>and</strong>bobby pins to secure loose hair. Bangs must be pulled in back <strong>and</strong> secured. Students should not bring jewelry with them to the theater; they willbe asked to take it off <strong>and</strong> leave it in the dressing room, where it could be easily lost.• No red lipstick, no dark eye shadow (such as blue, green, grey, or dark brown), <strong>and</strong> no bright blush.These hide the student’s natural features.• No nail polish on fingernails or toenails. This is st<strong>and</strong>ard practice among pre-professional dance programs.• Eyeglasses are NOT permitted on stage. Students may wear them in the dressing room <strong>and</strong> will leave themwith a backstage supervisor before entering the stage area.
