19 <strong>June</strong> <strong>2009</strong> Hangzhou - Myanmar State Peace and Development Council Vice-ChairmanMaung Aye finished his visit to east China's Zhejiang Province. During his stay in HangzhouMaung Aye met Zhao Hongzhu, secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CCP.19 <strong>June</strong> <strong>2009</strong> Beijing - <strong>Foreign</strong> Ministry spokesman Qin Gang announced that China andJapan will hold their tenth strategic dialogue in Beijing on <strong>June</strong> 24. Vice <strong>Foreign</strong> MinisterWang Guangya and Japanese Vice <strong>Foreign</strong> Minister Mitoji Yabunaka would headdelegations to the dialogue.19 <strong>June</strong> <strong>2009</strong> Beijing - Mohammad Yunus Qanooni, speaker of the Wolesi Jirga (lowerhouse of parliament) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, will pay an official goodwill visitto China from <strong>June</strong> 21 to 25 at the invitation of Wu Bangguo.19 <strong>June</strong> <strong>2009</strong> According to the Singapore newspaper The Straits Times website, theSingapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the PLA are conducting a joint counter-terrorism trainingexercise in Guilin, China. Code-named Cooperation <strong>2009</strong>, runs until 26 <strong>June</strong>. It is the firsttime the SAF and the PLA have trained together, and each side sent 60 troops. The SAF'stroops are from the 2nd People's <strong>Defence</strong> Force and the SAF Chemical, Biological,Radiological and Explosives (CBRE) <strong>Defence</strong> Group. The training exercise is focussing onsecurity operations for big events and handling situations arising from CBRE threats.19 <strong>June</strong> <strong>2009</strong> Beijing – The Capital Civic Enhancement Committee Office (CCECO)announced that it will recruit an army of tens of thousands of volunteers by the end of thisyear to help strip "lewd" content off the Internet. CCECO director surnamed Zhou claimedthat all volunteers would be registered with their real names and would be under thecommand of CCECO and the Beijing Internet Management Office. "Lewd" content includesviolence, libel, private and other information that violates standards of public decency.19 <strong>June</strong> <strong>2009</strong> Beijing - the Sixth Session of the Standing Committee of the 11th CPPCCNational Committee approved the decision to remove Chen Shaoji, formerly chairman of theGuangdong provincial CPPCC committee, from the post of vice chairman of the Committeefor Liaison with Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and Overseas <strong>Chinese</strong> of the 11th CPPCCNational Committee, and to revoke his credentials as a member of the 11th CPPCC NationalCommittee.19 <strong>June</strong> <strong>2009</strong> Pyongyang - The DPRK and China have agreed to cooperate in monitoringthe Yellow Sea's weather and ecological system. The outcome of the 14th DPRK-China talkson oceanic science and technology cooperation signed by the State Oceanic Administrationof China and the DPRK Bureau of the Weather and Hydrology resulted in the two countriesagreeing on a cooperation blueprint in the field for the coming two years. Present at thesigning ceremony side were members of the delegation of the DPRK Hydro-MeteorologicalService led by Vice-Director Ryu Pong Chol and members of the delegation of the StateOceanic Administration of China headed by Deputy Administrator Chen Lianzeng and a staffmember of the <strong>Chinese</strong> embassy. The focus of the summary was on using satellites andconducting research into weather changes on the Yellow Sea.19 <strong>June</strong> <strong>2009</strong> Bratislava - President Hu Jintao met Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. Hucalled Slovakia “a trustworthy friend and partner of China in the European Union” andpromoted stronger two-way trade. Fico similarly called for increased investment by <strong>Chinese</strong>firms in Slovakia. Hu later also met Slovak Parliament Speaker Pavol Paska.19 <strong>June</strong> <strong>2009</strong> Xiamen - Zheng Lizhong, executive deputy director of the Taiwan AffairsOffice of the State Council and executive vice president of the Association for Relationsacross the Taiwan Straits, and his party concluded their visit to Taiwan and arrived atDongdu Xiamen-Kinmen passenger Wharf. Zheng Lizhong told reporters that this was thefirst delegation of the Taiwan Affairs Office to visit Taiwan and its aim was to ensure thesuccess of the Fifth Cross-Strait Forum on Economy, Trade and Culture to be held in July.117
