Chapter7- ConclusionThrough the examination <strong>of</strong> Taiwanese expatriates‘ everyday grounded practices athome, in the workplace and in leisure spaces, this research has highlighted not only thesignificance <strong>of</strong> place in affecting transnational migrants‘ practices <strong>of</strong> belonging, but alsomigrants‘ agency in such emotional processes and interactions with and within differenteveryday living spaces. This is demonstrated by their identity practices embedded ineveryday lived experiences <strong>of</strong> material culture, transnational actions and interpersonalinteractions and socialisations.7.3. Theoretical and methodological contributionsThis section elaborates on the theoretical contributions <strong>of</strong> this empirical study to thescholarship on transnationalism, migrant belonging and emotional geographies. Also,practical implications for expatriate management and policies drawn from the study willbe presented. This is followed by the consideration <strong>of</strong> practical insights <strong>of</strong> my researchmethodology into the research <strong>of</strong> contemporary transnational migration.7.3.1. Transnational migrationThrough considering how transnationality is integrated into Taiwanese expatriates‘migrants‘ everyday practices and emotional processes, my empirical study makes anumber <strong>of</strong> contributions to transnationalism scholarship.In addition to the two-way flow <strong>of</strong> people, objects, information, I discussed the moreinclusive transnational experiences in which Taiwanese expatriates take part , includingtheir embracing and transfer <strong>of</strong> a series <strong>of</strong> habitual and ritual practices from home, aswell as the transnational material similarities (as seen in the housing forms and urban253
