The main objective of this course in electronic circuitsis to introduce the concept of active device, including operational amplifiers, and their use inamplification, signal conditioning, switching and filtering to students. In addition to gainingexperience with typical electronic circuits that are found in common applications, includingtheir own Gruppenarbeit and Fachpraktikum projects, students sharpen their understanding oflinear circuits based on nonlinear devices, imperfections of electronic circuits and the concept ofdesign (as opposed to analysis). The course is a prerequisite for higher semester subjects suchas analog integrated circuits, RF circuits for wireless communications, A/D and D/A convertersand optoelectronics.

Organization of Exercise and Laboratory SessionsThe class gets divided into four groups. The division is organized during the ComputerEngineering I (Technische Informatik I) class. Exercises can be handed in during the subsequentexercise session and will be marked. Laboratory sessions need to be attended during thespecified time.Group Exercise Session Exercise Room Lab Session Lab RoomA Thursday 15:15 – 17:00 LFO C13 Thursday 15:15 – 17:00 ETZ D96.1B Thursday 13:15 – 15:00 LFO C13 Thursday 13:15 – 15:00 ETZ D96.1C Friday 15:15 – 17:00 CAB G51 Friday 15:15 – 17:00 ETZ D96.1D Friday 13:15 – 15:00 CAB G51 Friday 13:15 – 15:00 ETZ D96.1Lab SoftwareThe NI ELVIS II is used together with the simulation software NI Multisim.
