It also includes an existing secondary school(Salisbury High School) <strong>to</strong> the south east of the site. The "<strong>to</strong>wnscape/countryside interface" ofthe whole area is of "elevated views, little/no foreground, generally harsh, abrupt settlementedge".Inspec<strong>to</strong>r request forconsistency.Objectives for the developmentTo develop 1250 new homes and 8 hectares of employment land, through a high qualitydevelopment which delivers an appropriate sense of place in accordance with the South<strong>Wiltshire</strong> Design Guide, 'Creating Places' in a sustainable location close <strong>to</strong> Wil<strong>to</strong>n andSalisbury, in a manner which compliments the existing communities and makes a significantstrategic contribution <strong>to</strong> meeting the local housing needs of south <strong>Wiltshire</strong> and helps facilitatethe delivery of the proposed Sarum Academy or a replacement of Salisbury High School.Specific issues <strong>to</strong> be addressed are:• The delivery of a new local centre for the Fuggles<strong>to</strong>ne Red area.• Assistance with and/or cContributions <strong>to</strong>wards improving the secondary school or theproposed Sarum Academy• Retention of a Strategic gap of open countryside planning <strong>to</strong> ensure Wil<strong>to</strong>n retains itsindependent character and does not become merged with Salisbury.Change proposed byPegasus and agreed by<strong>Council</strong>Changes proposed byPegasus and agreed by<strong>Council</strong>Page 20 of 70
