Frequently asked QuestionsQ. How do I figure out the best spring rate? There are a few good ways to accomplish this:1. Call and draw on our real world experience to get an appropriate recommendation.2. Spend the time to collect some ACCURATE weight and dimensional datafrom your own car to plug into our online spring rate calculator.www.ridetech.com/springrateVehicleFrontWeightFrontunsprungweightRearweightRearunsprungweightTotalweightEnginesize1932 GlassBody Roadster1211 lbs 200 lbs 1215 lbs 300 lbs 2424 3501933 Essex 1518 lbs 200 lbs 1631 lbs 300 lbs 3149 lbs 302Steel Body1934 Glass 1249 lbs 215 lbs 1430 lbs 300 lbs 2679 lbs 351Body Coupe1937 Glass 1614 lbs 215 lbs 1414 lbs 300 lbs 3028 lbs LS1Body Conv.1956 Chevy 1882 lbs 200 lbs 1467 lbs 298 lbs 3350 lbs Straight 61962 Impala 1825 lbs 217 lbs 1628 lbs 300 lbs 3454 lbs 3501966 Chevelle 1951 lbs 242 lbs 1815 lbs 279 lbs 3764 lbs LS11966 Impala 1934 lbs 217 lbs 1784 lbs 300 lbs 3716 lbs 3501967 Olds 442 2212 lbs 242 lbs 1571 lbs 279 lbs 3783 lbs 455 BB1967 Camaro 1911 lbs 200 lbs 1314 lbs 305 lbs 3224 lbs 3501968 Camaro 1809 lbs 200 lbs 1575 lbs 305 lbs 3384 lbs LSX1970 Chevelle 2189 lbs 242 lbs 1806 lbs 300 lbs 3997 lbs 540 BB1970 GSX 2218 lbs 242 lbs 1879 lbs 374 lbs 4097 lbs 455 BB1970 Nova 1798 lbs 200 lbs 1750 lbs 305 lbs 3548 lbs LSX1971 Camaro 1887 lbs 265 lbs 1469 lbs 298 lbs 3358 lbs 3501979 Malibu 1971 lbs 240 lbs 1436 lbs 298 lbs 3405 lbs 3501965 Mustang 1779 lbs 225 lbs 1392 lbs 298 lbs 3170 lbs 3021969 Mustang 1618 lbs 265 lbs 1413 lbs 298 lbs 3031 lbs 427.comONLINE SPRING RATECALCULATOROver the years we havegathered the weightsfrom our project vehiclesto help you determinevehicle weight.Q. Why are your springs more expensive than some other brands?A. We use a high tensile, cold wound, American made spring from Hyperco. The Hyperco spring has proven to offer a more stable spring rate with nodegradation of height over time. It also uses a smaller diameter wire whichallows more travel before coil bind. Hyperco continues to lead the industry incoilspring research and technology…the perfect partner for RideTech!Hyperco SpringOther SpringsQ. All of my friend’s street rods have a 3” stroke shock with a 300lb spring on the back of their street rods. You recommend a 4” or 5” stroke shock with a 175-200lb spring. How can you get away with such aradical recommendation?A. Longer shock and lighter spring = better ride quality. We accomplish this by first offering a billet lower shock mount(pg 22) that will drop the bottom of the shock 1”compared to most other lower shock mounts. Also, because theRideTech shocks have a longer threaded portion of the body, they are capable of using a longer coilspring than someother brands of shocks. A longer spring allows us to use a softer spring without fear of bottoming out. The last part ofthe equation is the better fluid control of the monotube design shock. This complete package offers a vastly improvedride quality…one that is controlled and compliant, not harsh and choppy.812-482-293262011 coil-over catalog revised 5-23-11.indd 7 5/24/2011 9:13:48 AM
