After winning theMMH award in the price-performance ratiosection, Clark is again launching a forklift at acompetitive price and optimised for power, efficiencyand sturdiness with the C40-55 Series.The new diesel and LPG powered forklifts ofthe Gen2 series (Load capacity 4-5.5 tons) isdesigned for use in warehousing, distribution,transport, production, recycling etc. and celebratesa world premiere in 2010.C40-55 - MORE THAN “BUILT TO LAST”The Clark motto “Built to last” means theC40-55 is more than just strength and durabilitywith minimum maintenance. The C40-55 hasbeen developed under the premises of reliability,comfort, power and energy efficiency,enabling users to configure the specification ofthe equipment to suit their application. Inwinning the MMH award, we also undertake tooffer an extraordinary price-performance ratio -and we successfully achieved this again withthe C40-55.”REDUCED MAINTENANCE -REDUCED COSTSThat is typically Clark: Thin steel or plasticparts cannot be found in critical areas onthe C40-55. The robust chassis madefrom thick steel plate ensures the bestprotection of important components andstands for radically reduced maintenancecosts. The wet disc brakes do notneed any maintenance, while the sophisticatedcooling system that protects theengine against overheating offers investmentcertainty. The air intake isoptimised. The air is sucked in where itis cleanest: at the top, in the left columnof the driver’s overhead guard. The highair intake in conjunction with the highpowerair filter enables longer filterintervals and increases the service life ofthe engine. If maintenance work is actuallyneeded, the engine compartment iseasy to access with just a few actions.SOPHISTICATED, PRACTICAL,COMFORTABLEIt is an established fact that efficiencyand effectiveness are directly linked to thehandling and comfort of a forklift. Clarkhas therefore designed a sophisticated,practical drivers compartment for theC40-55 without disturbing vital elements.The forklift driver can concentrate on thetask at hand without suffering any discomfortand strain. The C40-55 combinesspaciousness with problem-free access tothe operators controls. All hydrauliclevers are mounted ergonomically in convenientrange of the driver. The steeringcolumn with tilt adjustment also ensureseasy handling through ergonomic design.As with all functions of the premiumseries, it enables individual adjustment ofthe steering column to suit the operator.A QUIET MACHINEThe re-positioning of theengine/gearbox and drive axle hasreduced the noise level and vibrations ofthe new C40-55 to a minimum. Furtherparallels to automobile design can befound in the arrangement of the pedalsand hand brake as well as the digitaldisplay (TFT). This provides informationon the most important operatingstatus of the forklift, such as oil pressure,water temperature, speed, time,truck direction etc. Excellent legroom, alarge rubber covered floor area and variousstowage compartments round offthe driver’s compartment. Operatorscabins complete with heater or air conditioningare also available as a factoryfitted option.POWERFUL DIESEL ANDLPG/GASOLINE ENGINES.The C40-55 can be ordered with dieselor LPG/gasoline engines, depending onthe applications. The heart of the dieselmodel is a Kubota V3800T engine (92 HP/ 2400 RPM), giving high performance atthe top end of the power class. The traveland lifting speed are just as impressive.The GM V6 LPG (4.3 litres displacement)also ensures an extraordinary level ofpower. Both engine variants are based ona tried-and-tested, manual two speedindustrial transmission.EQUIPMENT FEATURES ON CALLCustomer and order-specific equipmentbegins with the uprights on theC40-55. Standard, Hi-Lo and Triplexuprights up to 7 meters high are available.SE tyres are also an option. TheC40-55 also comes with all the prominentfeatures of a Clark forklift. Clark offersupright cushioning as standard for liftingand lowering. This feature reducesshocks and noise, protects the goods andminimises wear. The solid finite elementdesign (FED) construction prevents anychassis distortions, even under extremeloads. The compact design and optimumweight distribution gives the C40-55optimum driving stability and safetywhen cornering. The sturdy design of thesteering axle can withstand intenseshocks and loads without requiringadjustment. The low front cowl givesexcellent visibility of the fork tips andload. The new location of the hydraulichoses within the upright gives excellentvision through all upright variants.
