MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTHREPORTTO:North Perth CouncilFROM:Kriss Snell, CAODATE: December 10, 2012SUBJECT:2013 Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA)PURPOSE OF REPORT:To provide Council with the annual rate for the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for correspondingremuneration adjustments.BACKGROUND:Annual adjustments to the salary grid are calculated using the County of Perth’s methodology of thecalculated average total CPI for the twelve month period ending October 31 st of the previous year.The CPI is a measure of price movements, produced by Statistics Canada and obtained bycomparing the retail prices of a representative “shopping basket” of goods and services at twodifferent points in time.Total CPI rates are attached, as derived for the Bank of Canada CPI index website, averaged at1.82%.
