From hiking in the fall tobiking in the spring to swimming, golfingand fishing in the summer to snowboarding,skiing or tubing in the winter, there isplenty to do at any time of the year. Throwin shopping, great restaurants and plentyof attractions and there is something foreveryone, no matter the season.<strong>ESU</strong> is located approximately 75 mileswest of New York City, 85 miles northeastof Philadelphia, 40 miles northeast of theAllentown/Bethlehem/<strong>East</strong>on area and 40miles southeast of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.The campus is 1/4 mile from exit 308,Interstate 80. Exit right onto Prospect Street.To Reach Eiler-Martin Stadium — Oneblock after the first light turn right on CentreStreet. Stay on the road past one stop signand the stadium will be in front of you.<strong>Football</strong> Office, Second Floor, KoehlerFieldhouse — Take right at the first light on<strong>East</strong> Brown Street. Go up the hill 6/10th ofa mile, take the first left onto Smith Street.The fieldhouse is on the left on the corner ofSmith and Normal streets.The Warren E. and Sandra Hoeffner Science and Technology Center, a $40 millionstate-of-the-art facility, was dedicated in September 2008.Providing High-Quality, Higher Education<strong>ESU</strong> - In its 121st Year of ServiceFounded in 1893 as a Normal School,<strong>East</strong> <strong>Stroudsburg</strong> <strong>University</strong> has beenoffering quality higher education to thecitizens of Pennsylvania for more than acentury.With an enrollment of more than7,500 students and a strong commitmentto academic excellence, <strong>ESU</strong>’s programscontinually earn the highest levels ofaccreditation in their fields.The university’s most recentlyconstructed and largest academic buildingis the $40 million Warren E. and SandraHoeffner Science and Technology Center,a state-of-the-art facility and the first newmajor academic building at <strong>ESU</strong> since 1979.The late Warren Hoeffner ‘55, quarterback ofthe Warriors’ 1954 championship team, andhis wife Sandra were the lead donors for theproject.The Center is in its sixth year of serviceand features a planetarium, rooftopobservatory and a wildlife museum ofnatural history. The facility supportsresearch activities and provides classroom,laboratory, conference and office space fordiverse departments from the sciences andmathematics to computer science.Other recent contributions to theongoing transformation of the campusinclude an investment of over $10 milliondollars in safety and other improvementprojects associated with storm watermanagement and campus beautification.The campus consists of 66 buildings on252 acres and boasts a student-to-teacherratio of 18 to 1.More than 2,100 students reside in eightresidence halls. The university also offersapartment-style housing for another 200students on the main campus, along with<strong>University</strong> Ridge, a 10 building apartmentstylehousing complex adjacent to campusthat accommodates 541 students.Approximately 74 percent of thestudents receive some form of financial aid,including scholarships, loans and grants.The 2013-14 academic year will mark theuniversity’s 121st year of operation and theschool has approximately 35,000 alumni.<strong>ESU</strong>, like many other public colleges anduniversities across the country, started as anormal school, a professional school for thetraining of teachers.<strong>ESU</strong> History<strong>East</strong> <strong>Stroudsburg</strong> Normal School wasfounded to serve students in the state’snormal school fourth district and had 320students enrolled when classes started onSeptember 4, 1893.In 1926 after the state assumedcontrol of the school, the original namewas changed to <strong>East</strong> <strong>Stroudsburg</strong> StateTeachers’ College.The school became <strong>East</strong> <strong>Stroudsburg</strong>State College in 1960 to reflect the school’sexpanded curriculum with liberal artsprograms and graduate degrees.In July 1983, the Pennsylvania GeneralAssembly established the PennsylvaniaState System of Higher Education consistingof 14 universities and <strong>East</strong> <strong>Stroudsburg</strong><strong>University</strong> was born as a comprehensiveregional institution.

The Yellow Jackets were 7-3 (7-1 NE-10) last year.Saturday, Sept. 14 at Seton Hill 6:00The PSAC, the largest conference in the NCAA, expanded to 18 full-time members (16football) this summer by adding Seton Hill and Pitt-Johnstown (non-football). <strong>ESU</strong> visitsGreensburg for Seton Hill’s first PSAC crossover game and the schools’ first-ever meeting.Saturday, Sept. 21 *at Shippensburg 1:00Shippensburg fell to IUP in the PSAC championship game and Winston-Salem in theNCAA Playoffs at the end of a historic 11-2 season. Harlon Hill winner Zach Zulli returns forhis senior year and threw for 496 yards and 5 TD in a 63-21 win at <strong>ESU</strong> last fall.Saturday, Sept. 28 at Cheyney 1:00<strong>ESU</strong>’s 59-27 win last year was its 33rd straight, extending an NCAA all-division recordfor consecutive wins in an uninterrupted series. Departed tailbacks Eric Deery (167) andKendrick Williams (151) were the first <strong>ESU</strong> backs to go over 150 yards in the same game.Saturday, Oct. 5 *CLARION 6:05Clarion had two 4th-quarter TD drives in a 31-27 win last fall in the first career startfor R-So. QB Matt Soltes, who had 318 yards of total offense. The Warriors had won sevenstraight vs. Clarion from 2000-09 and own an 8-4 advantage in the all-time series.Saturday, Oct. 12 *at West Chester 2:00Soltes set an <strong>ESU</strong> record for completion percentage, going 30-for-37 (81.1) for 366yards, and hit So. WR Tim Wilson for a game-winning 33-yard TD pass with 5 seconds leftin a 35-28 Homecoming win last year, <strong>ESU</strong>’s 2nd vs. West Chester since 2003.Saturday, Oct. 19 *BLOOMSBURG (Family Weekend) 1:05Bloomsburg pulled away for a 48-27 win last year behind Franklyn Quiteh (282 yards,3 TD), who has a shot at the PSAC career rushing record this fall. Paul Darragh replaceslegend Danny Hale as head coach for the Huskies, who have won 7 straight vs. <strong>ESU</strong>.Saturday, Oct. 26 *at Kutztown 1:05The Warriors won 9 straight vs. Kutztown from 2001-09, but the Golden Bears havetaken the last 3 meetings, including a 59-33 verdict last year. Douds will face a first-yearhead coach for the 2nd straight week in former Millersville QB Drew Folmar.Saturday, Nov. 2 *LOCK HAVEN (Homecoming) 3:05Lock Haven moves to the PSAC <strong>East</strong>, replacing previous associate member LIU Post,with Seton Hill joining the PSAC West. <strong>ESU</strong> beat the Bald Eagles, 31-0, in last year’s seasonopener. LHU ended the campaign with a 15-7 win over Cheyney, breaking a 52-game slide.Saturday, Nov. 9 *MILLERSVILLE 1:05Soltes gained 382 yards of total offense, running and passing for two TD’s, in a 62-14win at Millersville last fall. Greg Breitbach takes over for Greg Colby, who coached 5 years.Saturday, Nov. 16 MERCYHURST (or PSAC Championship game) 1:05Last year’s 52-45 loss at Mercyhurst, in which <strong>ESU</strong> rallied from a 21-point deficitbefore falling on a late TD, featured both PSAC Freshmen of the Year in Soltes and Lakers’tailback Brandon Brown-Dukes.
