Lisa TamatiLisa Tamati is a businesswoman and an extremeUltra-runner. She has been running in<strong>te</strong>rnationally forover 13 years, clocking up the equivalent kilometres ofover two and half times around the equator, in trainingand in some of the most extreme endurance races inthe world.Lisa has three companies and a fourth one in theprocess of being established. One of these is a jewellery business and she studiedgoldsmithing in Vienna, Austria af<strong>te</strong>r being in the jewellery industry and exporting NZ'srare Paua pearls to Europe and Japan. Lisa opened her own shop in Vienna, then asecond shop in 2006 in New Plymouth. In 2008 she bought an opal cutting andpolishing business and added that to her custom jewellery line. She specializes inopals, Tahitian pearls, Paua pearls, greenstone and s<strong>te</strong>rling silver designs influencedby her New Zealand/Māori culture and her time in Europe.Lisa also has a company that deals with her PR, media, documentaries, speakingengagements, book publishing and TV presenting, and a third, Northburn100 which isan events company that runs New Zealand‟s first and only 100 mile off-road event inCromwell. These have evolved from her involvement with ultra-marathon running. Sheis also in the process of establishing a production company with other partners.Traci Houpapa__________________________________Traci Houpapa is the Chairman of the Federation of MāoriAuthorities, and the Tainui Board member. She is the first woman tolead FoMA since its establishment in 1987, and is commit<strong>te</strong>d toencouraging and promoting Maori participation in economicdevelopment.Traci co-owns THS & Associa<strong>te</strong>s Ltd, a Hamilton-based consultingfirm providing advice in stra<strong>te</strong>gic and business planning,organisational development, and governance and executivementoring to Iwi, Māori public and priva<strong>te</strong> sector clients throughout New Zealand.Traci holds many directorships and Minis<strong>te</strong>rial appointments, including LandCorpFarming Ltd, National Advisory Council for the Employment of Womena, StradaCorporation, and the Rural Broadband Initiative National Advisory Council. She is aCommit<strong>te</strong>e of Management member on Te Uranga B2 Incorporation, a Māori Authorityin the King Country. Traci is a Justice of the Peace, a Celebrant and a member of theMāori Women‟s Welfare League.12
