Richard has worked as a Māori development consultant for numerous years and hasexperience in the areas of Māori education, stra<strong>te</strong>gic management, environmentalmanagement, project management, Māori language revitalisation, indigenousbusiness, Māori land development and research. He has worked with a number ofMāori provider organisations, Iwi, Māori landowners and whānau trusts - helping todevelop their capability and capacity.Ingrid Collins___________________________________Ingrid Collins has been in governance positions since she was first appoin<strong>te</strong>d to theboard of the Whangara B5 Incorporation in 1974. Since then she has had manygovernance roles, mostly associa<strong>te</strong>d with Māori farming or the medical industry. Shehas led the Whangara B5 Incorporation through some large changes in recent times,culminating with the establishment of a partnership with a sis<strong>te</strong>r corporation to form thePakarae/Whangara B5 Partnership (now known as Whangara Farms). She has beenthe chairperson of this partnership since its establishment in 2006. In 2003, Ingrid wasappoin<strong>te</strong>d Chairperson of the Tairāwhiti District Health Board. This role has been achallenging one and she has led the Board through some demanding changes to thehealth sys<strong>te</strong>m.Daniel Hikuroa___________________________________Dr Daniel (Dan) Hikuroa is an Earth Sys<strong>te</strong>m Scientist within<strong>te</strong>rests in the in<strong>te</strong>gration of mātauranga and science to realizeindigenous development. Dan has been the Research Director ofNgā <strong>Pae</strong> o <strong>te</strong> Māramatanga since July 2011. He is currently anational commit<strong>te</strong>e member of the Sustainability Society of NZ(IPENZ) was also Auckland representative of the GeoscienceSociety of New Zealand.Dan was previously the Community Earth Sys<strong>te</strong>ms Science<strong>Programme</strong>s Manager at the Institu<strong>te</strong> of Earth Science &Engineering University of Auckland and has an ex<strong>te</strong>nsivebackground in Earth Sys<strong>te</strong>ms Science. Af<strong>te</strong>r leading a deep fieldgeology mapping expedition for the British Antarctic Survey for his PhD he thencomple<strong>te</strong>d a Post-Doc Fellowship investigating how the world‟s oceans and biota haveresponded to naturally driven clima<strong>te</strong> change in the ancient past. During that time Danincreasingly found himself drawn to his Maori roots and to exploring the in<strong>te</strong>rfacebetween mātauranga and science. Dan has established himself a world expert onin<strong>te</strong>grating indigenous knowledge and science and has undertaken many projectsincluding geothermal developments, hazard and vulnerability assessment andindustrial was<strong>te</strong> si<strong>te</strong> rehabilitation.16
