Section VIStudent ExitAll <strong>Juvenile</strong> <strong>Justice</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> students are court ordered to attend the program. Typically students shouldanticipate attending the program up to 12 months.Upon entering the JJI program each student will be placed on one of two transition tracks.1. Extended Track - Students who are Long Term Suspended or Expelled from local schools. Students should anticipate attending the program for approximately 12 months. Once a student reaches Level 5, they may be eligible for a work study program oralternate daily schedule. This decision will be made by program staff and will be based onindividual transition plans started when students first enter the program.2. Accelerated Track - Students with other chronic school issues Students should anticipate attending the program for at least 4 months Once a student reaches Level 5, they may be given the opportunity to complete theprogram and return to local public school. This decision will be made by program staffand will be based on individual transition plans started when students first enter theprogram.Students who are unable to transition successfully within their track timeline may be continued in theprogram as determined by Court and school staff.Transition Criteria: Must be on level 5: length of time determined by staff Must maintain at least a "B" average, unless determined otherwise by staff Must successfully complete at least two visits to home or receiving school as part of transitionprocess that includes meeting of staff and creating possible class schedule Must successfully participate in all community based activities Should not have any school related probation violations or new charges in the last 3 monthsSpecial Consideration:If all criteria are met prior to the scheduled graduation date, early completion of the program may beconsidered by Court and JJI school staff only if the student is accepted to alternative school setting.13
