ImmunizationsSection IXGeneral InformationMichigan law requires that all students registering for the first time in this state shall present by the firstday of school a certificate stating they have received a minimum of 1 dose of DPT, polio, and two doses ofmumps, measles, and rubella (MMR) immunizations or a statement of exception under section 9215.Administration of MedicationUpon receiving a completed Medication Form, a school teacher or other school employee may administermedication to students in accordance with procedures established by the superintendent.The student's name and physician's name shall be listed clearly on the permission form. The name of themedication, the dosage, and the specific time of treatment shall be listed on the medication container.Any incident of a student in possession of medication that is not labeled or having verifiable identificationwill be considered a violation of code of conduct and will be referred to Director of program for disciplinaryaction.LockersStudents will be assigned a locker for use upon entering JJI. The locker is the property of TwentiethCircuit Court/JJI. Students are expected to maintain their lockers and may not damage them by applyingstickers, gum, writing on them with markers, etc. If locker is in need of repair, students are expected toreport it to JJI staff. Students failing to maintain their lockers in the same condition as issued will be billedfor cleaning and/or repair at the end of the program.JJI staff recommend all valuables be left at homeDo not leave money or valuables in your lockerStudent MAY NOT change lockers from those originally assigned without permission of the staffSearchesAlthough school lockers are temporarily assigned to individual students, they remain the property of theTwentieth Circuit Court/JJI at all times. Twentieth Circuit Court /JJI staff have a reasonable and validinterest in assuring that lockers are properly maintained. For this reason, periodic inspections may,therefore, be conducted by OCFC/JJI personnel at any time, without prior announcement to students. Anycontraband discovered during such searches will be confiscated and appropriate disciplinary action taken.A student's locker and its contents may be searched when JJI staff has reasonable suspicion that illegal,unauthorized, dangerous (i.e. weapons) or contraband items, or other evidence of school rule violationsare contained therein. A student’s person may also be search by staff to protect the safety of JJI staff andother students.19
