14.4 Schedule and Offering TimeClasses will be offered throughout the academic year and open <strong>to</strong> free booking by WEB-enrollment.Unless it is specified differently in Definitive Course Document, you can choose <strong>to</strong> take the ComputerTraining at any time throughout the year that best suits <strong>your</strong> own timetable.Classes will be arranged in a non-block-week pattern during semesters or a block-week patternduring semester-breaks and summer periods. <strong>The</strong> non-block-week classes will be organized normallyin 3-hour sessions in the mornings, afternoons or evenings for 10 weeks <strong>to</strong> allow you <strong>to</strong> fit in <strong>your</strong>own schedule.<strong>The</strong> arrangement can be flexibly arranged when a department releases a class of students for certainperiods during the semester <strong>to</strong> attend the computer training or when students can form a group ofmore than 12 by themselves proposing <strong>to</strong> the Industrial Centre for a specific time-slot. Competitionfor places in block-week classes during semester-breaks and summer periods would be keen and youare encouraged <strong>to</strong> make early reservations for non-block-week classes so as <strong>to</strong> free summer time forattachments or co-curricular activities. You should plan carefully <strong>your</strong> schedule when taking theComputer Training and avoid overloading <strong>your</strong>selves in one semester.14.5 CreditUpon completion of the Computer Training you will obtain subject credit accordingly as stipulated in<strong>your</strong> Definitive Course Documents. No additional credit will be awarded for extra modules. However,successfully completed extra modules can be treated as co-curricular achievements.14.6 Competency TestCompetency Tests (pre-tests) are available <strong>to</strong> you before you choose <strong>to</strong> attend the ComputerTraining. If you passed the Competency Tests, you will be exempted from attending the ComputerTraining and earn the credit. However, you can choose <strong>to</strong> attend the training class withoutattempting the competency tests.You may attempt the Competency Test only once for a particular module. If you failed theCompetence Test or did not turn up at the test, you will be required <strong>to</strong> attend the training class andaccomplish all passing requirements of the module in order <strong>to</strong> meet the training requirement forgraduation/progression as stipulated in <strong>your</strong> course document.Competency Tests will be organized periodically and appropriately as required with detailsannounced on IC Homepage. You can web-enroll and view <strong>your</strong> own result of Competency Tests onthe same homepage normally not later than 2 weeks after the event is taken place.14.7 Class EnrollmentYou can register by web-enrollment at IC Homepage. A PIN which will be delivered <strong>to</strong> <strong>your</strong> PolyUEmail box authenticates you for subsequent enquiry and add/drop modules on the Web.If you had successfully registered on a class, you will be confirmed by email.
