<strong>The</strong> <strong>Canada</strong> <strong>Day</strong> <strong>Stat</strong> <strong>Holiday</strong> <strong>is</strong> <strong>coming</strong> <strong>up</strong> onThursday July 1 and <strong>is</strong> a <strong>Stat</strong> <strong>Holiday</strong> inALL provinces we have clubs in.Home Office<strong>The</strong> Member Experience Dept will be closed on <strong>Canada</strong> <strong>Day</strong> (July 1)._____________________________________________________________________________________Here <strong>is</strong> some important information regarding the <strong>Stat</strong> <strong>Holiday</strong> <strong>coming</strong> <strong>up</strong> in July:Personal TrainingPersonal Training <strong>is</strong> NOT permitted on <strong>Stat</strong> holidays. All <strong>Stat</strong> <strong>Holiday</strong>s have been blocked off in CARE forPersonal Trainers to ensure that sessions cannot be scheduled on any <strong>Stat</strong> <strong>Holiday</strong>s.Your ScheduleYou must make appropriate changes to your schedule for the <strong>Stat</strong> <strong>Holiday</strong>! It’s important to have staffcoverage on the <strong>Stat</strong> holiday if your club <strong>is</strong> open but you will schedule less Associates than usual. Pleasespeak with your Div<strong>is</strong>ional Manager about your scheduling and if your club has Child Minding, what hours itneeds to be open.Gro<strong>up</strong> Ex ClassesGeneral Mangers, please work with your Gro<strong>up</strong> Ex Regional to find out what Gro<strong>up</strong> Ex classes will berunning.Public <strong>Holiday</strong> PayPublic holiday pay <strong>is</strong> designed so that Associates receive wages for having a day off because of a statutoryholiday. Associates who qualify can take stat holidays off work and be paid public holiday pay.Who Qualifies for Public <strong>Holiday</strong> Pay?Associates qualify for public holiday pay unless they don’t work:• <strong>The</strong>ir entire regularly-scheduled shift before or after the public holiday; or• <strong>The</strong>ir entire shift on the public holiday if they agreed or were required to work that dayQualifying full-time and part-time Associates receive holiday pay whether they work or not on the statholiday. In Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan it does not matter how recently an Associate was hired orhow many days they worked before the stat holiday. In Alberta, Associates must have worked for at least30 days or shifts in the year before the holiday. In B.C. Associates must be employed for at least 30 daysand worked on at least 15 of the 30 days before the stat holiday. In New Brunswick Associates must haveworked for at least 90 days in the 12 months before the holiday. In Nova Scotia Associates must be entitledto receive pay for at least 15 of the 30 days before the holiday. In Newfoundland Associates must beemployed for at least 30 days prior to the holiday.How much Pay do Associates receive?Hourly Associates will be paid:• Public holiday pay for the day plus 1½ times the regular hourly rate for each hour workedSalary Associates will be paid:• <strong>The</strong>ir regular rate for the hours worked and a day off with public holiday pay no more than threemonths after the public holiday.If a salary Associate works 4 hours on a stat holiday instead of a full 8 hour shift, they will receive 4 hoursoff with pay on another day within 3 months of the stat holiday
