3 NOVO ENERGYNovo Energy is a WTE company headquartered in Colorado and holds the patents and licenses for whatwas the Barlow technology package 22 . The technology is currently implemented in four states (Minnesota,Oklahoma, Virginia, and Pennsylvania) 23 . The Novo Energy technology is in small scale operation at thePope Douglas Resource Recovery Facility in Minnesota with an annual combustion capacity of 39,600tons 24 and the Harrisonburg Resource Recovery Facility in Virginia with an annual combustion capacityof 66,000 tons 25 .3.1 NOVO Energy Inclined Fixed Grate Combustion TechnologyThe feedstock of this system moves by gravity, utilizing an inclined grate, where the waste moves downthe surface of the combustion chamber using timed pulses of air. The pulsing action ensures maximumburnout and facilitates migration of the waste down the inclined surface of the combustion chamber. Thepulse technology is depicted in Figure 6, below.
