Mavi Bayrak’lı bir plajA beach with Blue FlagBayrak veremiyoruz.Suyun temizliğiyle birlikte plajdakiyüzme alanlarının belirlenmesi,cankurtaran hizmetinin belirlisaatlerde verilmesi, engellivatandaşlarımız için gereklikoşulların yaratılması, plajaulaşılması zor yerlerde aradakiyolun emniyetinin gözetilmesi gibiçok sayıda kriterimiz var ve bunlartoplamda, kaliteli bir yaşamayönelik.TÜRSAB: Tesisler ve yerelyönetimlerin Mavi Bayrakkonusundaki bilinci nedüzeyde?Rıza Epikmen: Tesislerolsun, belediyeler olsun baştaMavi Bayrak konusundaçekinceli davranabiliyor,zira gerekli yükümlülükleritaşıyıp taşıyamayacağından,bu konuda başarı sağlayıpsağlayamayacağından eminolamıyor. Ama bir kez MaviBayrak aldıktan sonra da onukaybetmemek için inanılmaz birçaba harcıyorlar. Bu konudakibilinç son derece yüksek.Mavi Bayrak turizm tesisleri içinpazarlama açısından son dereceönemli ama biz vakıf olarakMavi Bayrak’ı sadece turistiktesislere artı sağlayacak değil,o bölgede yaşayan insanlarınyaşam kalitesini yükseltecek biraraç olarak görüyoruz. MaviBayrak demek arıtmanın olmasıdemek, suyun sürekli kontrolediliyor olması demek, güvenlive rahat bir şekilde sahillerdenfaydalanabilmek demek... Yaşamkalitesini gözeten, bireye saygıyıesas alan bir proje bu.Türkiye’nin çevreyle barışıklığınıartırmaya, çevre korumanıngereksiz bir standart olmadığınıanlatmaya, gelecek nesilleresağlıklı bir dünya bırakmayaçalışıyor, bunun için deadımızdaki “eğitim” sözcüğününsorumluluğunu eksiksizce yerinegetirmeye çalışıyoruz.Mavi Bayrak’lı bir marinaA marina with Blue FlagOne of the first criteria is continuouscontrol to check if the water is clean.While there are sampling stationsin some regions, a facility or amunicipality applying for the Blue Flagmay not have purification equipment.Let say that a particular region’swater is clean and because of runningwater it has no problems, but so longas they don’t have purification we areunable to award the Blue Flag.As well as clear water, we have manyother criteria, such as creation ofswimming areas on beaches, lifeguardfacilities at certain times of day,creating a suitable environment fordisabled people, safety of the roadsleading to difficult parts of a beach,which as a whole aim to provide aquality of life.TÜRSAB: What level of knowledgedo facilities and local authoritieshave about the Blue Flag?Rıza Epikmen: At first, the facilitiesand the municipalities can be havereservations about Blue Flag, becausethey can’t be sure if they can shoulderthe responsibility or can be successful.But once they are awarded the BlueFlag, they put an incredible effort notto lose it. They are highly consciousabout this.While the Blue Flag is an importantasset from marketing point of viewfor the facility, we see it as the tool toincrease the quality of life of people inthat region rather than just a positivepoint for the touristic facility. TheBlue Flag means that there is waterpurification; it means that the wateris constantly controlled; it means thatthe beaches can be used with peaceof mind and safely... This is a projectwhich respects the quality of life,respects the individual.We are trying to increase Turkey’speace with the environment, tryingto explain that protecting theenvironment is not an unnecessarystandard, trying to leave a healthyworld for next generations whichis why we are trying to fulfil our“educational” responsibilitiesmentioned in our title.38 TÜRSAB DERGİ | HAZİRAN 2010
