Key Club News—Fall 2010This fall is a very eventful season for Key Club at Emmaus High School. KeyClub started several service projects immediately after the start of the schoolyear, and the rate of incoming projects is increasing as we speak. The Smenciland Smen fundraiser was a huge success thanks to our dedicated members. Inaddition, members have been working with children at the Hillside School,Bethel Church, and Jefferson Elementary School. Key Club did a fantastic jobhelping to clean up the stadium after home football games on the following morning. Key Club alsoparticipated in the second annual Say Yes to Scarecrows event in Emmaus and created two scarecrowsthis year. For Halloween, Key Club went trick or treating for UNICEF. Members asked for small donations ofloose change while trick or treating, and all proceeds went towards helping children inUruguay. The Key Club collected about 150 boxes of macaroni that will be donated to the AngelNetwork. Throughout November, the club will continue to work with the Angel Network to create giftbaskets and the Mittens for Kittens event that will be held in December. The Cops N' Kids book drive is coming to an end, and Key Clubbers will begin to sort through allthe books. This year, with the help of every school in the district, we collected about 20,000 books, which will be provided to children that are less fortunate in the Lehigh Valley. Also, thanks to EmilyKollar, we held a special event at the Barnes & Nobel in the Promenade. Activities such as facepainting, trivia, magic shows, jazz band and arts and crafts were available for anyone who attended. All of the money earned at the event will be used to purchase even more books to add to our collection.Evan Sosnow, Key Club EditorPeer Tutor ProgramThe Peer Tutor Program, coordinated by Mr. Grabfelder and led by President DanielLomauro, works in conjunction with the National Honor Society.
