Difficult to assess. Construction hasn’t reallyseen a legislative push to waste minimisation.Hopeful that SWMPs will go some way todealing with waste mini and mgmt howver theupfront design remains the issue and until thisis a requirement site waste required disposal orR&R.3a -Have any legislationsmade working easier?4 Do you think thecurrent wastelegislation is sufficient?4aDo you think thecurrent wastelegislation is efficientlyenforced? If not, whatmore could be done?Yes, all angles are tightly covered but theindustry would like specific guidance to helpthem comply i.e.specific skip typesNo. Larger companies feel they are doingall they can to comply with no realguidance/help from the EA i.e. nodevelopment of a syllabus, generic trainingetc. Larger companies feel they aretargetted as catching a large companyworking illegally gives them more pr. Thereneeds to be more focus on thesmaller/medium range players who don'tkow about the legislations and do notcomplete forms because they dont have theunderstanding or manpower to do so. Barryraised the issue as to why a largedeveloper would fly tip when they aren'treally worried about the waste disposalcosts because they hand on the costs tothe client.Yes, if understood correctly by Subcontractors!!Yes TWDDebatable. Often see waste carriers who donot hold correct DoC and licensingrequirements/renewals for exempt sites. There are some small gaps, butgenerally it is sufficientNo. We have very few visits from theEA/SEPA looking at how we controlour waste. We feel there needs to be amore proactive approach rather thanthe current reactive approach.5 Do you have any othercomments regardingwaste legislations i.e.do current legislationsThere needs to be a culture change and thegovt. needs to work wth people througheducation, training etc. so peopleunderstand how to adhere to theThe legislation needs to beconsolidated in some way as there is alot of different parts to it.4 AEA Energy & Environment
