Pilot MentoringIt is recommended that the Mentoring Initiative Steering Committee attend the Pilot MentoringProgram Steering Committee meeting, Monday, October 13, 2010, New Jersey Education Association(NJEA), Trenton, NJ, 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. This activity is a component of the Mentoring Pilot Project forMentor Teachers that was previously approved on the Official Board Report for May 2010 page 11.Participants on the steering committee are Dr. Robin M. Wyche, Director, Ms. Dorothy Smith,Supervisor, Mr. Brian Medley, Principal, Ms. Felicia Cade-Turner, teacher, and Ms. Beatriz Derisse,teacher. Both teacher participants are mentor teachers. - (Mileage cost is based on the rate of 31cents per mile)There will be no cost to the Board.May 2010 Superintendent’s Report, page 11, Item D1It is recommended that the Camden City Public Schools participate in a Mentoring Pilot Project with EquityAssistance Center and the New Jersey Department of Education, to enhance the district’s mentoring process.Opportunities to network with other districts would also be increased. A Mentoring Initiative Steering CommitteeMeeting is scheduled for May 20, 2010 to discuss planning and implementation of the project, July 1, 2010 throughJune 30, 2011, at Riggs Adult Education Center.2. One Day Follow Up TrainingIt is recommended that permission be granted for a one-day follow up training for participatingteachers in the Pilot Mentoring Program, scheduled for October 12, 2010. Mentor teachers will meetwith the NJ DOE and EAC at 9:30 am - 3:00 pm at the Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G) Room:Full Conference Center in Edison, New Jersey. The award, which has been reviewed and recommended for funding, ispending approval.Completion of the program will also enable participating teachers to apply for a NJDOE certificate inPhysical Science.There is no cost to the Board, pending final approval.Official Report 96September 28, 2010
