Awards are given periodicallythroughout the year and there is no deadline forapplication. It’s time to show how green Drayton Valleyshines! Application forms can be picked up in person atthe town <strong>of</strong>fice or downloaded <strong>of</strong>f <strong>of</strong> our website,www.draytonvalley.ca .The award categories areas follows:Environmental - Individuals or groups that engagein activities or initiatives that address sustainableliving, conservation/preservation, transportation,waste management, energy and water consumption,development standards, emissions and effluents, andhazardous materials. These initiatives contribute to acleaner environment, a community culture <strong>of</strong> respect,minimize per capita greenhouse gas emissions and enablehealthy activities.Cultural – Individuals or groups that host a variety <strong>of</strong> social, visualand performing arts, entertainment, cultural and heritage events, aidin the recognition and/or promotion <strong>of</strong> our heritage, historical relevance,or multiculturalism, all <strong>of</strong> which play an important role in building aculture <strong>of</strong> sustainability in the community.Social – Groups or individuals that maintain positive initiatives thatbuild a vibrant and healthy community for all ages. Initiatives mayinclude but are not limited to, projects that support peace, social issues,volunteerism, human rights, ethnic diversity or reduce poverty.Youth – an individual or group composed <strong>of</strong> youth that provides avoice for younger generations, encourages youth participation in thecommunity, or works behind the scenes to create positive collaborationswith others.Economic – Individuals or groups that foster sustainable economicdevelopment and growth, leading to a diverse and prosperouscommunity. The business practices enhance both the environmentaland economic performance <strong>of</strong> all businesses in the community to createa community that attracts further economic growth and families.Governance - Governments, organizations, agencies, and individualsthat have had a direct impact on the lives <strong>of</strong> citizens in a communitythrough policy choices, regulating powers, resource allocation,leadership, and decision‐making forums.
