While the summer toys are being packed away foranother year, activities for fall and winter are just beginning!A little snow and colder weather invite us all to enjoy a newseason.Drayton Valley has many recreational opportunities to offer!This third edition of the Community Guide will provide anabundance of activities for you and your family right herein Drayton Valley. Local residents and visitors will be able tomake the most of the season.Our community has many activities to offer including skatingon the frozen ponds, cross country skiing on our beautifulgroomed trails, downhill skiing or tobogganing on the hillsat our unique waste management facility on Family Day. Nomatter your interest or ability, I encourage everyone to getout and see what Drayton Valley has to offer!The Community Guide is a valuable resource for thoselooking to take advantage of what Drayton Valley has tooffer. Our community has a very diverse and rich recreationalculture. Whether it is indoor or outdoor, Drayton Valley hasa plethora of amenities and services to offer its longtimeresidents, visitors and new comers! On behalf of Counciland the Town of Drayton Valley, I wish you all a very safe andenjoyable fall and winter season!Reeve’sMessageGreetings from Brazeau County Council and Administration!If you are new to the Town of Drayton Valley, the Village ofBreton or Brazeau County, welcome to our community. Myhusband, Stovey, and I moved to this area in the fall of 1986and have not looked back.Some of my favourite memories since that time haveincluded many evenings riding our horses over the hills andthrough the valleys in what was unbeknownst to us ourneighbour’s pastures; curling bonspiels at the LodgepoleCurling Rink; skiing on the beautiful Nordic trails, whichare now part of the Eagle Point-Blue Rapids Recreation Parksystem. If you prefer to downhill ski, we also have the localDrayton Valley ski hill or we are a short trip to either the Jasperor Banff Provincial Park areas.I love the beauty of fall in this area as I drive all the differentroads that lead to Edmonton for either business or pleasure.My favourite fall activity is helping my brother harvestby driving combine. There is no greater feeling ofaccomplishment than seeing truckload after truckload ofgrain hauled off the fields.Enjoy the fall and find a fun winter activity…it’s a great way tomeet people and stay healthy.Welcome Home!Glenn McLeanPat Voswww.draytonvalley.ca
