Drayton Valley and District <strong>Guide</strong> Recreation Facilities4-S Skatepark4-S Skatepark Etiquette1) Be PatientIn simple terms, this means, “Wait your turn!” Payattention when other people are riding.2) Learn the LinesStand and watch other riders for a few minutesbefore venturing into the park so that you can learnthe traffic patterns and not ride against the flow <strong>of</strong>other riders.3) Cross with CareCrossing the Skatepark from one area to anothercan be very dangerous, always look both waysbefore crossing.4) Be Considerate <strong>of</strong> the Young KidsRemember everyone has to start somewhere. Takethe time and explain the rules <strong>of</strong> skateboarding andhelp them out.5) Don’t Trash the ParkAlways pick up after yourself, don’t leave yourgarbage lying out to be blown around or pickedup by someone else. It’s your duty to keep the parkand street clean from your garbage.6) Be RespectfulIf you show respect to others and the park, you willearn respect for yourself. Your actions will impactthe perception <strong>of</strong> the park, so take responsibilityand follow Skatepark etiquette at all times.The Skatepark Committee wasformed in 2007 to address thedeficiencies <strong>of</strong> the existingpark and since then, this youthdriven committee has workedvery hard to make its dream<strong>of</strong> a modern BMX /Skatepark areality in Drayton Valley.At their core, skateparks are thenew meeting place. They are thepoint <strong>of</strong> congregation for youngpeople and their parents.The sport is innovative andthe language is unique.
