Drayton Valley and District GuideBreton Familyand CommunitySupport ServicesStory Time - Breton Municipal Library holds a half-hour Story time for 3 to 5 years olds on Thursdayfrom 11 to 11:30 at the library. This is a drop-in program so no pre-registration is required. - FREERhyme Time - Join Patti for some fun with your little ones This group meets every Friday fromSeptember - May from 10:00-11:30 am in the basement of the civic center. This is a great time tointeract with yourpre-school child. FREEBabysitters Certificate Course - Dates TBA - Based on the Alberta Safety Council’s Program.Participants must be 111/2 years old at the time of the course. This course will be held if there isenough interest. Please call for more information. Cost $20/participant.Big Buddy Mentoring Program - We are looking for adult Mentors to meet with their littleBuddy twice a month over the school lunch hour. Program runs February - May. Please call formore information,Halloween Hoopla - Join us for a safe and fun filled Halloween night at the Breton CommunityCentre. Games and treats for everyone.Older Adults Exercise Program - Friday mornings at the Breton Golden Age Centre - older adultsare invited to participate in a low impact program. Work at your own level from a chair or standing.- $1 / class - Drop inSelf Defence Class for Women - Get your girlfriends and daughters together and join us for thispersonal safety class. Ages 15 and older welcome. Date to be announced in late September – October.Community Christmas Dinner – December 16th - Join us for a traditional Christmas Dinner Thisis for anyone in the community that does not have someone to spend Christmas with, is not ableto be with friends and family during Christmas or maybe you have to work on Christmas Day.Volunteers Appreciated. FREE tickets at the Village of Breton office.Family Day Activities February 16th – Join us in being Unplugged and spend the day with familyand friends around the Village of Breton. Watch the Breton Booster and our website at www.village.breton.ab.ca for the days schedule.Family Counselling - Family counselling services available in the Village of Breton for Villageresidents and those in the eastern portion of Brazeau County. Subsidies available for those thatqualify. Contact our office for further information.Volunteer Income Tax Program – Income Tax preparation for low income families, seniors,individuals and students – March – June. Call for more information.Celebrate Breton - Join us for an information and resource fair for the community of Breton andsurrounding area. Industry, businesses, volunteers groups all welcome. Learn all of the excitingreasons to live in our community – Last Thursday in May – Breton Community Centre.Direct Services - Home Support ServicesServices are available to assist with routine light housekeeping, shopping, and meal preparation.Rates are determined upon income level, ranging from $8.00-$11.00. Additional travel fee may alsobe charged.
