center for Homeland Security and Weapons of Mass<br />

Destruction and specialty tactical training conducted<br />

by all DoD military, law enforcement, and federal<br />

agencies. Dedicated to providing state of the art<br />

ranges and facilities for support of the <strong>National</strong> <strong>Guard</strong><br />

and deployment of all Brigade Combat Teams.<br />

oPERATIoNS AND TRAINING bRANCH<br />

The Operations and Training Branch is responsible<br />

to the Chief, Plans and Training Division for the overall<br />

scheduling of ranges, training areas, and facilities on<br />

Camp Gruber. During Fiscal Year <strong>2010</strong> there were<br />

5,202 facilities, ranges, and training areas scheduled<br />

and 78,099 Soldiers and civilians trained. During FY<br />

<strong>2010</strong> Camp Gruber supported the pre-mobilization<br />

training of the 45th ADT and 285th AVN.<br />

The CBIRF Marines also conducted their CBRNE<br />

training in conjunction with Operation Joint Eagle.<br />

Operation Joint Eagle facilitated Homeland Defense<br />

training for 1,244 Service Members to include<br />

OKARNG, ILARNG, MOARNG, and Marine Corps.<br />

Camp Gruber has the most innovative training<br />

ranges and facilities in the region.<br />

These include premier small arms and vehicle<br />

mounted weapon qualification ranges, small<br />

unmanned aerial vehicle operations area, Military<br />

Operations in Urban Terrain collective training<br />

facilities (MOUT CTF), and a Breach Facility. Camp<br />

Gruber has continued to improve the ranges and<br />

facilities to accommodate realistic training.<br />

RANGE bRANCH(RANGE CoNTRoL)<br />

The Range Control Branch is responsible for the<br />

overall safety, management, maintenance and repair,<br />

preparation, issue, and receipt of all ranges and<br />

training areas. There were 1,246 ranges and training<br />

areas prepped, maintained, issued, utilized and<br />

received in <strong>2010</strong> without any major incidents. Main<br />

focus of Range Control is training realistically while<br />

maintaining a safe training environment. Range<br />

Control prepares all Surface Danger Zones utilizing<br />

the Geospatial Information System (GIS) with Range<br />

Mangers Tool Kit to get several new proposed ranges<br />

and training events approved. Range Control ran a<br />

24 hour Operations Center during any and all facility<br />

occupations Mangers Tool Kit to get several new<br />

proposed ranges and training events approved.<br />

Range Control ran a 24 hour Operations Center<br />

during any and all facility occupations.<br />

RANGE MAINTENANCE bRANCH<br />

The Range Maintenance Branch is responsible<br />

for maintenance and repairs of all ranges, both<br />

live and non-live fire, on Camp Gruber. Range<br />

Maintenance consists of five Federal Technician<br />

target system repairers, three State Employee<br />

construction maintenance technicians, and up<br />

to six Military Additional Duty Soldiers. The<br />

mission of Range Maintenance is to maintain<br />

and repair ten different types of targets including<br />

manual, electronic, and remote control, welding<br />

and metalworking, carpentry and woodworking,<br />

grounds keeping, landscaping and excavation<br />

with heavy and light equipment operations. In<br />

addition, we work very closely with units to meet<br />

specific and special needs they require during
