<strong>Wisconsin</strong> Air <strong>Guard</strong> squadron receives top unit awardThe <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Air <strong>National</strong><strong>Guard</strong>’s 128th Air ControlSquadron, based at Volk FieldCombat Readiness TrainingCenter, has been awarded the AirForce Outstanding Unit Award forexceptionally meritorious servicebetween Nov. 1, 2008 and Oct. 30,2010.Gov. Scott Walker praised theunit during a Dec. 2 ceremony atVolk Field.“This is only the fourth timesince 1948 that this award hasgone to this unit, and this is quitean accomplishment,” Walker said.“On behalf of all of us here in<strong>Wisconsin</strong>, we are exceptionallyproud of that accomplishment. In alarger context, we are proud of allof you.”Brig. Gen. John McCoy,commander of the <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Air<strong>National</strong> <strong>Guard</strong>, expressed his pridein the 128th ACS.“It’s one thing to talk about howgreat we are,” McCoy said. “Butwhen an inspection comes through… we come through here at Volk.It’s an honor to be here in front ofyou as the head of the Air <strong>National</strong><strong>Guard</strong> in <strong>Wisconsin</strong> — the 2,300men and women of the <strong>Wisconsin</strong>Air <strong>National</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> — and be ableto talk about how great Volk is.”The award, presented by thesecretary of the Air Force, citesseveral accomplishments by the128th ACS, including a deploymentto the 379th Air ExpeditionaryWing from May through October2009, where the unit operated theBattlespace Command and ControlCenter; a 97 percent compliantrating for a June 2010 unitinspection; and an “Outstanding”rating for an August 2010information security inspection.@easeExpressLt.
