Kankariya Lake, Drains and Nagina VadiThe Kankariya Lake (left) in Ahmedabad had been sanctified many times by BhagwanSwaminarayan. He used to bathe and frolic with his devotees in its cool waters. Before and afterthe consecration of the murtis of Nar-Narayan in the mandir in Kalupur, Maharaj stayed withhundreds of devotees beneath the tamarind trees by the banks of the lake. Here, he also helda feast (chorashi) for many Brahmins. The lakeholds great significance in the Sampradayabecause of the sacredness bestowed byBhagwan Swaminarayan.Drain Pipes on East Side of Lake: After bathingin the lake, Shriji Maharaj used to often siton the platform on top of the drain pipes (above)and discourse to his devotees.Nagina Vadi: At the centre of the lake liesthe Nagina Vadi (left), which still has a bungalowand a garden (below). Maharaj meditatedin the garden and thereafter discoursed to hiscongregation.
