Hospital In Patients2. Out Patients from clinics and GP3. Patients at Ante-Natal Clinics.


4. Accident and Emergency departments.The Clinical Specialist Ultrasonographer will be responsible for theplanning and organization of the Ultrasound service with dailyadministration and management on Causeway Hospital site.They will participate in the following :-General Abdominal Scanning and ReportingPeripheral Vascular Scanning and ReportingCarotid Doppler Scanning and ReportingPaediatric ScanningAnteNatal / Gynae Scanning and Reporting if requiredMain responsibilities1. Advise and assist staff of a more junior grade by providing advicebased on knowledge and experience within the Ultrasound service2. To delegate appropriately skilled staff to work areas as servicedemands.3. To lead by example in setting a high standard of personal work whilstacting as a member of a team to ensure the highest possiblestandards of work.4. To maintain a strong clinical commitment and liaise with Radiologistsand Clinicians to ensure the provision of a quality Ultrasound Serviceto patients. This would include maintaining a high standard ofpersonal work whilst acting as a member of a team.5. Develop skills and knowledge by participating in various proceduresundertaken within the department. This would include a commitmentto working within departmental protocols and guidelines.6. Demonstrate an ability to manage own work, departmentalworkloads in terms of time, resources and demands of the serviceand to make appropriate decisions when necessary.7. Undertaking Ultrasound scans as part of the Core UltrasonographersTeam within the NHSCT. These clinical duties would be underdirection of a Consultant Radiologist or Consultant Obstetrician.8. Ensure that personal quality of work is evaluated againstperformance and departmental quality standards.


9. To ensure equipment is properly maintained by participating in aquality control programme. To take appropriate remedial actionincluding informing the line manager and liaising with engineerswhen required.10. To establish and maintain high standards of patient care consistentwith Trust Policies, Procedures, Protocols and legislation.11. Be capable of providing a full range of (a)General Scans to includeGeneral abdominal, Peripheral Vascular, Carotid dopplers,Paediatric Scans and other such examinations as may be addedfrom time to time under the Clinical Direction of the ConsultantRadiologist. (b) Antenatal & Gynae scans under the Clinical Directionof the Consultant Radiologist.12. To report on Ultrasound scans as a delegated authority of theClinical Director of Radiology. To provide written reports onAntenatal and Gynae Scans under the Clinical Direction of theConsultant Obstetrician / Gynaecologist. To produce hard copyimages and findings on general scans under the clinical direction ofthe Consultant Radiologist).13. Participate in :-Ultrasound Scanning in any of the Trust Radiology Departments14. To participate in Research when required.15. To participate in the Directorates Audit programme.16. To supervise and assist staff for whom they are responsible whilstleading by example.17. To identify and actively encourage professional and selfdevelopment among staff for whom they are responsible.18. To liaise with individuals and groups in other relevant departments toestablish good working relationships which support continual qualityinitiatives.19. Participation in courses, seminars and In-Service Educationprogrammes for personal and professional development asnecessary.20. Assisting in the implementation and partake in efficient staff trainingprogrammes to ensure continuing professional development.
