It is everyone’s responsibility, not just the cleaners”. Whilst thereare staff employed by the Trust who are responsible for cleaning services, all staffemployed by the Trust have a responsibility to ensure a clean, comfortable <strong>and</strong> safeenvironment for patients, clients, residents, visitors, staff <strong>and</strong> members of the generalpublic.Infection Prevention & ControlAll Staff should co-operate fully with regard to Trust policies <strong>and</strong> procedures relating toinfection prevention <strong>and</strong> control.All staff should be aware of the Trust’s Infection Prevention & Control strategy <strong>and</strong> theirlocal reduction of infection plan <strong>and</strong> know their role, in keeping with key principle InfectionPrevention <strong>and</strong> Control is everyone’s business.Staff, in delivery of all care must:--Wash their h<strong>and</strong>s thoroughly between each patient contact.- Be compliant with St<strong>and</strong>ard Infection Control Precautions, H<strong>and</strong> Hygiene <strong>and</strong>decontamination <strong>and</strong> other relevant infection prevention <strong>and</strong> control measures.- Be aware of the Infection Control guidance within the Trust’s Infection ControlManual <strong>and</strong> ensure they obtain m<strong>and</strong>atory Infection prevention control training or otherspecific infection control related training as required.Hygiene & Prevention of InfectionYou will at all times be required to observe hygiene/infection prevention & controlst<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>and</strong> notices in operation throughout the Trust. Hygiene <strong>and</strong> control of -infectionare key elements in delivery of safe, quality services <strong>and</strong> you will, in certain jobs, berequired to undertake an appropriate training course at the expense of the Trust.7

Failure to do so may result in you not being shortlisted.Title of Post:Ward Sister/Charge NurseB<strong>and</strong>/ Grade of Post: B<strong>and</strong> 7Essential Criteria:Qualifications:Registered Nurse on Part 1 of the live NMC RegisterHave a Nursing Degree AND 3 years post-registration experience within acute servicesOrHave 5 years post-registration experience as a B<strong>and</strong> 5 including 3 years within acuteservices <strong>and</strong> have obtained a post-registration diploma or equivalent qualification.OrHave 5 years post-registration experience which must include a minimum of 2 years atB<strong>and</strong> 6 within acute servicesSkills <strong>and</strong> Knowledge:Provide evidence of continuous personal <strong>and</strong> professional development.Be conversant with current professional issues in relation to nursing.Ability to provide effective leadership to meet the needs of the post in full.Ability to effectively manage an operational team to ensure positive outcomes forpatients/clients.Provide evidence of maintaining <strong>and</strong> monitoring st<strong>and</strong>ards which have enhancedthe patient/client experience of care.Ability to influence <strong>and</strong> manage change, including the promotion of evidence basedpractice.Have effective communication skills to meet the needs of the post in full.Demonstrate ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.9


For posts requiring a Driving Licence:Hold a current full driving licence valid in UK with access to suitable transport onappointment.
